TheCalliton
GREETINGS!first off, ive missed you all, there, sappy stuff out of the way. now, ive been gettiong bored of shooters ltaely, they offer little customization of your character or guns (excluding my favorites of rainbow six vegas 2 and future soldier) i was wondering if therei s a modern-ish shooter with alot of customization and good gameplay. I dont mean "you can choose between this premade helmet or the other one" or "you can throw your favorite sight on the gun" i mean barrels, grips, gas systems, side rails, everything. And for characters, i love stuff like r6v2 So, does anyone know o f a shooter that would satisfy my cravings? (some futuristic stuff that isnt over the to[p is nice too) :psyduck:
SariDecember
Hi! Although it recieved some very mediocre ratings I really enjoyed Brink. Gives you a lot of customization and unlockables and REALLY loved the visual style and the soundtrack! Might wanna give it a go!? hoofhearted4
i second Brink. i played it on PS3 and it was a blast. though its very frustrating (even more so now that no one plays it) all the missions revolve around either Camp This Point, or Attack this point (meaning the enemy is camping) this can be very frustrating (esp on Harder Difficulties) because the enemy AI are master campers and masters at attacking as a group (usually) whereas the AI on your team streams in one by one and it makes attacking a point very hard. The game was a blast for the little bit there were players (though on PS3 it suffered from lag). I did play most of the game solo however, just because of said lag. They are making a spiritual successor to Brink, idr what its called though...
billyro
Saints Row The Third offers a lot of customisation, though it's hardly a serious game in any aspect.
TheCalliton
hmm... any other good games with gun customization?
Vindekarr
Alrighty then, I know a few. Saint's Row FOUR is coming out in two months, it lets you design YOUR OWN GUNS(!!!) aswell as being all kinds of sci-fi awesome. Tom Clancey's Ghost Recon Future Soldier(bit of an unwieldy name) has probably the most in-depth gun customisation of any game I've ever played, bordering on softcore gun porn. It's got an absolutely beautiful interface for it aswell; breaking the gun up into it's floating components. Gas system, grips, rails, stocks, scopes, barrels, compensators, triggers, firing chambers, calibre, bullet type, all customisable, and there's a healthy selection of American, Russian and Chinese guns available. AND it's a pretty good stealth shooter. Tomb Raider, the new one, is pretty much a must-play anyway but it's got some great customisation. Seriously, just buy it, it's an absolute gem. BTW, good to have you back Calliton.

Vindekarr
Calliton-Saint's Row IS odd, really, really freakin' whacked-out. It's sales slogan is "Live the American fever-dream" the last iteration had a giant sex-toy as a weapon, and it's generally the most deranged, insane, loopy game ever made. And therin lies it's appeal: it's very, very funny, never takes itself, or anything really, seriously, it's got unbelievable customisation, and it's just a hell of a lot of fun. Saint's Row is... vaguely similiar to Just Cause or GTA; it's a gigantic open-world shooter with an entire city to explore, carjack, ect. Where it differs from them is, GTA is now dull, colourless, and boring because it's lost it's sense of humor. Saint's Row is just simply bats*** insane; it's got the opposite problem, sometimes it's jokes risk going too far. Either you love or hate SR, but as sandbox goes it's pretty much the world leader for player freedom right now; how many games do YOU know of where you can get payed for hunting Mascots with a giant purple sex toy, or flying a UFO into a statue of Burt Reynolds. It's like Borderlands. On drugs. Bordercrack. And as guilty as it may sometimes make you feel, that's one AWESOME combination. Tomb Raider... give it a serious look, they put an enormous amount of work into reinventing both Lara Croft as a character and the franchise itself this time, and they really pulled something out of the hat. I WAS in the same boat as you; I thought TR was kinda dumb, maybe a bit sexist, and more focused on boobs than any serious gameplay. The new one is... well, none of the above. The new Lara is... well, a brilliant character. Exceptionally well voiced, but also outstandingly believable and human. The new TR is a good game, maybe not on paper, but when you play it, it really is a little bit special. You feel invested in the story, the characters, and in wanting to get the hell off the island. It and The Last Of Us are probably the only survival games where you actually feel compelled to survive not by the fear of checkpoints or punishment, but because you don't want the characters to get hurt. TheCalliton
unfortunatly, thats why i dont like the new TR. i saw some gameplay and it wasnt liek the classic tomb raider i had played, kinda made me sad. I might have to give SR a try, i might like it
