sastrugi (or sastruga); ridges of snow formed on a snowfield by the action of the wind. Hitting one slightly on angle on an overcast day at about 35 miles an hour on a snowmobile has a tendency to ruin your whole weekend and is about equivalent to hitting a concrete parking curb. It was time for a new set of skis anyway.

nudiustertian; the day before yesterday.

bozone, noun: The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas penetrating.
The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down at any time in the future.

Engaged in a bit of espieglerie (playful behaviour; mischief.) today cause its April Fools.

A Deputy Chief arrived for a meeting and left the Command Unit parked on the street. So me and another Officer grabbed a bucket and some window glass from the cut up vehicles on the vehicle extrication training pad and rolled the drivers window down on the Command Unit and spread the broken glass on the drivers seat and onto the ground by the drivers door.

Deputy was convinced someone broke into the Command Unit and spent ½ hour trying to figure out what may have been stolen out of the Unit.

He still didn’t know the window is just rolled down when he drove away. I’m sure there will be something said soon about this.

Apothegm; a short, instructive saying; an aphorism. Example; two wrongs don't make a right.

Noticed recently that these seem to be a means for some people to say something rather than actually communicate.

initialism: an abbreviation made from the initial letters of the words it's abbreviating. Often pronounced as individual letters, e.g., FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation), QA (Quality Assurance), UI (User Interface), GM (General Motors, General Manager, Game Master, or several other things depending on context), PBX (Private Branch eXchange), USA (United States of America).

An initialism that's pronounced as a regular word is an acronym, e.g., NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), RAM (Random Access Memory), laser (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), FAQ (Frequently Asked Question(s)), Benelux (BElgium, the NEtherlands, and LUXembourg).

Acronym and initialism are often used interchangeably in less-pedantic contexts. Not to mention there are some that don't fit clearly either way in pronunciation -- e.g., JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), MS-DOS (MicroSoft Disk Operating System), CD-ROM (Compact Disc Read-Only Memory).
