IAmStormShadow
I recently moved Skyrim SE to a new drive because I had vortex move all files to that drive for a different game. Now Skyrim SE shows up as the main game on my dashboard & I can launch game from vortex, but when I try to download a mod for Skyrim SE, it says game is not currently managed & I have to direct the install to Skyrim SE. Skyrim SE shows as a managed game in the game menu & when I hover over it, there is no option to manage, while the other games do have that option. When I play the game it shows that mods are installed, so I do not understand why Vortex is saying game is not managed. Any help with this would be much appreciated. HadToRegister
Before you moved skyrim to a new drive, did you PURGE your mods?If not, then you copied all of the Hardlinks and turned them into actual MODS in your Skyrim SE folder, and now Vortex is seeing the old hardlinks AND the Mods
IAmStormShadow
I did not purge before moving game. I did purge after moving game but still getting message "no compatible game managed" The game & the mods all still work with no problems, just do not understand why I get the message. Do you know a way to fix?

Do you know a way to fix? Well, your mods are orphaned now, because you didn't purge BEFORE you moved. So what happened is, Windows went and made Physical Copies of the Hardlinks from the Mod Staging Folder, and put actual MODS in your Data folder. 1. Go to the Extension Tab, make sure Skyrim SE is Enabled.2. Go to GAMES Tab, click SHOW HIDDEN GAMES, if it shows up, click MANAGE3. Expand the UNMANAGED section of the GAMES tab, does it show up in color there? If so click MANAGE4. in the GAMES tab, when you type Skyrim in the Search Box, does it show up in either the Managed or Unmanaged Section?5. try click SCAN select either QUICK or FULL
IAmStormShadow
I had already done all of that. The game is showing as managed. However, when I download a mod, it shows as not being compatible with games managed by vortex. I am getting the mods from Nexus & once they download, I click to install & that is when I get message, but it offers to install in current managed game which is Skyrim SE

Are you downloading mods for SKyrim Legendary Edition instead of Skyrim Special Edition? The problem was caused by moving Skyrim and not purging your mods, because Vortex is still trying to path your mods to where Skyrim USED TO BE, which is why it's saying it's not managed. It sounds like you had Vortex Move the Mod Staging Folder for Skyrim to another drive, because of a different game that was on the other driveYou know, you can have a mod staging folder for each INDIVIDUAL game on different drives. You can have a mod staging folder on Drive C for a game you have on drive C and you can have a mod staging folder on Drive D for a game that's on Drive D, you don't have to move ALL of your Mod staging folders to one drive and then move all your games to one drive. There's apparently no way to access the game in the Managed Section now so you can change the Game Path. But at this point, because Mods weren't purged before the move, you're going to have to start over
IAmStormShadow
Thanks for your help, but as far as starting over, I do not see the need to. As I stated, game & mods are working fine, but I just have to tell vortex to install mods in current managed games now. I have played a little bit & so far I have not found any problems. But thank you for helping me understand what happened, & I will try to prevent this in the future with any other games, & if it becomes necessary I will start over if I have to.
