cause when i try to install just a texture mod FOMM crashes with the "somethng bad seems to have happened" message

Which? Provide a link to whichever texture mod you're trying to install.

My guess? You're trying to install a mod via FoMM's package manager which simply cannot be installed via the package manager. Why not? Because it was never meant to be installed that way.

What do the install instructions of the mod in question say? How are you supposed to install the mod according to the mod's author?

I'm betting it doesn't mention anything even remotely related to the package manager. No, it likely says you need to do some old-fashioned copy-paste or drag 'n dropping or whatever to install the mod.

No amount of "fixes" for FoMM itself are going to change anything about that.

Uninstall the game and then reinstall the game in a location other than "Program Files". Do the same with FOMM. This should correct your problems, unless you have a multicore CPU, then you will have to do the .ini changes to limit the CPU to two cores. Instructions for this are found all over the Fallout 3 Forum.

i applied the fix

still does it

what we need to know is, can you run the game now despite the

additions issues as that was not the issue, running more than 10 minutes was?

we know your install path is on a slave drive so that Eliminates responding to the last poster here. but, in that suggestion come daylight as if you follow the proactive stance of force installing all program outside of the systems reach, you stand a better chance of control. that is the basis of the post.

game run time [_____________] is now what?

kitty.
