I think I've been turned off AMD products.

When it comes to graphics cards, I've floated around between Nvidia and AMD for some time, but I think (without being an overly supportive fan) that I'll stick with Nvidia from now on.

Because of this:

Why did they think resorting to such a childish and immature advert was such a good idea? It's beyond a joke bad, let alone stupid advertising.

They can walk around my city and yell "screw Nvidia" through loudspeakers if they want to, I don't care. I only care about one thing - price and performance ratio. If an AMD card has the same performance as an Nvidia card but is cheaper, I'll get AMD. If Nvidia is cheaper, I'll get Nvidia (they are rarely cheaper though, at least around here).

It's that simple, ads are completely irrelevant.

Besides, Microsoft openly insulted iOS and iPad to promote Windows tablets in a similar way, no sledgehammers but Microsoft pretty much claims iPad is only good for playing chopsticks. And yet, you still use Windows, do you now?

Look, in reality, AMD can sh*t all over Nvidia, especially with next gen cards. Last Gen, Nvidia killed AMD, especially in the high end cards, the 690 being the most advanced and powerful GPU setup and then the titan but now, the 700 range is going to be blown out of the water by the next "proposed all dual-core GPU" setups being introduced by AMD. Im Nvidia, at the moment, only because I like that the 700 range being smarter than the 600 and any AMD range but the way things are shaping up, with AMD about to launch the most powerful dual core stable setups ever seen and also beating intel to the 5ghz processor, id say i'm going to quickly switch over.

AMD eventually is going to have bragging rights unless Nvidia manage to pull a miracle from nowhere in the high end 700 range,

Floating around between the two is exactly what people should do, brand loyalty is for fools.

Exactly!I had brand loyalist fan boy/girls who constantly preach how good their parent company is.

That commercial hurt me in every way, i hate to see any pc part being abused in such manner. please give the manufacturers the respect they deserve.

Ouch..

i bet Nvidia is hating all the way.

its also really biased because each company has its strong points, depending on the situation.

I know, I winced when I saw that card getting smashed. Wouldn't matter if it was Nvidia or AMD, plenty of people don't have the money for a good card from either company, and here a marketing team is smashing a ~$500 marvel of technology. :(

A medium-high end part from either company will max any game anyway, this ****ing war is even more ridiculous because each card runs each game differently. My old GTX 460 ran some of my pre-2006 games better than the new cards.

I chose AMD because it wAs equal/greater performance for less price. If nvidia gets better pricing or the performance is that much better then I'd get them or if I just had money to spend.

The same goes for intel. Their products are just damn good even at higher pricing. Bug I'd easily switch to amd if their chips didn't flunk. I do love their pricing and use them when a build needs to be cheap

I feel your pain, for the less unfortunate that card would be a dream, i build pc's and that is why i just got so angry watching that biased commercial. I would have expected better from a tech firm like AMD.

And hoof amd's chips are just fine, just don't go with the older bulldozer cpu's, like the 8350 and above is where its at.

So an aggressive ad from the competitor suddenly irks you? Please. Nothing unusual. Microsoft's been doing this for years against Apple. Don't think it changes people's minds that much. Letting an ad suddenly change your opinion about their products..... bad idea. Who cares? Brand loyalty is blind.

I really didn't care for the ad (though that card they smashed was probably a good card, btw), but in the end I buy whatever product that I feel is good for performance per pricing. If NVIDIA gives the best deal, then I'll buy it. Turned out that they did where I lived, so I got 2x GTX 680 for my SLI config. The wife got herself, on the other hand, 2x AMD HD 7970 for her CrossFire setup just yesterday..... and she saw the video already. Didn't change her opinion on her purchase.
