Workshop easy to find items

I have many mods, adding in many new items to build. The problem is, they all have their own categories & furniture & decorations, & more. Some of them also move vanilla items, or remove them. I find that it is taking a long time to find exactly what I am looking for & it is hard to remember where the item was the last time I used it.

Is there a mod to put all items like furniture, walls, foundations, stairs, & so on, all in one category to make finding them easier. Either that or a way to type a word in & bring up all similar items?

Something like that would really be helpful & save lots of time.

I'm going to suggest you search Nexus FO4 for Valdacil's Item Sorting, Use just " Valdacil " as it will bring up about 66 items, most of which are patches. I use this particular one, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3877 , This sorts items into separate categories, guns under guns, armor into armor, with listings for food items with separate aid like stim packs at bottom in a sub heading, junk, ammo, and several others, each with it's own icon. The patches are mod specific and I think color coded. Not sure on that last. Some mods require this. This is used by most people. There is also Valdacil's KeyNuker, which places all keys found into their own category. Happy gaming.

OP asked about the settlement build menu, not the character inventory.

A search function for the build menu is one of those things that is requested a lot, but never gets done. Could be it's not possible for some reason I don't know about.

This is correct, I am asking about the settlement build menu. I have looked at the other & they are not at all what I was asking about. It is too bad that my suggestion can not be done as it would be very helpful.

The problem is that every constructible object would have to be tagged somehow in order to be sorted. Which means everyone would have to agree on how to tag them. There's been attempts to come up with a standardized framework for that, SMM or SKE or the like, but there has never been a consensus so people just do what they want and don't worry about the mess.

  • 3 years later...

Looks like I'm the only one who's still searching for the very same mod.
I love building! So much so that my number of building materials/decorating mods offer so many options and variations, that I can't find anything.

I did install a mod recently that offered to organize any DLC - anymod building menu into something more user friendly. yada yada... for the number of downloads, it had a fair number of endorcements. The trouble I had with that mod was, the game started crashing when trying to choose a SMM2 extended menu and some DLC item menus. ~ needless to say that's all I've fond, and I'm still looking. ( btw, that particular mod had been retired by the author since the 2016; but hey! no harm, no foul).

Sure would appreciate if this thread were kept alive for some help here.  thx.
