Birrii
I've heard that Bethesda are almost going bankrupt because of the stockmarket crisis, is this true? I just searched for google about information about TES 5, and it may be that it won't be released! The first TES games sold poorly, so they almost flattered with bankruptcy, but Zenimax (luckily) svaed them, and then they created morrowind etc. Do you know if they are almost bankrupt, and what do you think: Will they ever go bankrupt or not? I think that if TES 6 sells poorly (what is a very small chance of that), then they will go bankrupt. Now that the banks in America are bankrupt, movie productions and even game productions lend money from banks. But if the banks can't lend money, taht means that the next game can't be released. TheTerminator2004
Yes, link please. When I googled it, I couldnt find anything. In fact, the only thing I found that was even remnotely related was a quote from Peter Hines basically saying how much money theyve made :P
DontWorryBeHappy
I sure hope not. I thought the games industry was meant to be largely recession-proof.

Vagrant0
I sure hope not. I thought the games industry was meant to be largely recession-proof.Nope, the only industries that are recession proof are those related to alcohol, porn and toilet paper... Although toilet paper is not nearly as necessary as alcohol and porn. Although game companies may be hurting, big name companies, or atleast companies who have had successful launches, aren't in any immediate danger. If Bethsoft and other companies do go under, chances are that not having TES V to play with will be the least of your concerns.
Kellao
I wouldnt be suprised if they were going bankrupt after what they did with Fallout 3 useing live instead of giving us CD's! Maybe they spend lots of money on certain people.

myrmaad
(I really think rumormongering sucks). I'm an old tomb raider fan.. I was just there for the latest painful fall of Eidos in '07 -- (which looks to finally be potentially resolved by Square Enix),-- it's big news and everyone was writing about it. There's not even a hint of a problem coming out of Beth, on the contrary, F03 has reaped a huge $$ success, as well as accolades from gamers and industry insiders. In a Recession, It's Fun and Gameshttp://www.inc.com/articles/2009/02/gaming.htmlDespite recession, 2008 was a banner year for the gaming industry.By: Eliot CaroomFrom the article linked above: U.S. video game sales rose by 15 percent in 2008, according to Top Global Markets, a joint report from industry research firms. Sales grew thanks to bestsellers such as Nintendo's Super Smash Brothers, which sold over six million copies globally. But private companies also pulled their weight, like Bethesda Softworks, whose mega-hit Fallout 3 had $300 million in sales by late 2008. "We're able to go head to head with anybody," said Pete Hines, Bethesda Softworks' VP of marketing. "There isn't a level on which we can't compete with anybody in this industry." Hines said he isn't concerned that the global recession will cause a serious downturn in game sales. "Guys like me who play video games all the time aren't going to stop when times get tight," Hines said. "If anything, we make cuts in other places but continue to do that, because it's some of the best entertainment for the dollar that you can get."
