enchanting problems

Dear Friends,

When trying to enchant an item to give me permanent effect, I get a message that I cannot add more effects than the item will hold. For example I'm trying to enchant a peice of Daedric Armour to give me permanent resistance to poison, at any level, and thats all. I have the money and the Grand Soul Gems w/ Golden Saints and Ascended Sleepers. It won't let me enchant an item with effect "when used" for more than one second.

Could the problem be that I need to find an enchanter with a higher level of Magik? Or is it a bug??!!? My character is level 35, and I've just installed the expansion pack Tribunal.

Could anyone tell me the name of an enchanter who can do it if that is the problem?

What is the highest level of protection/damage causing that I can enchant an item to. Why won't it let me enchant arrows for example?

Anything and everything you could tell me about these things would be greatly appreciated.

In case its a bug and anyone is qualified/certified to help with that, my edition(expansion pack Tribunal too) is the liscensed Russian copy from 1S (1C).

Thanks in advance,

Paul

ok heres the problem, each piece of armour or weapon or anything else has a number of enchant points, thats how much enchantment it will hold. if u go over that limit, it wont work

i think its shown in the top right corner of the enchantment window.

for really powerful enchantments i suggest using either an exquisite ring/amulet (120 enchant points) or a daedric tower shield (225 enchant points).

constant effect cure poison/paralyze/corprus/common disease etc wont work as u need like 1500 enchant points for that (no item in the game has that many points.)

also the reason u only get cure poison for 1 sec is because 1 sec is all u need. u cast it and the poison is instantly gone ^_^

hope this has helped

I think about the only thing that Switch didn't cover there, is that some spells will also cost more enchantment points than others. For instance I can cram a lot more Fire damage into a DLS than I can Shock damage. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's related to the amount of Magicka needed to cast the spell? At any rate, Paralyze is a VERY expensive spell to add to any weapon.

There is no way (without a plug-in) to enchant your own arrows or bolts. There is an "Area Effect Arrows" plug-in availble from the official web site though, and of course the "Dire Flame Arrows" and such available in-game, but that's hardly the same thing...

And make sure when making constant effect items that you choose "Constant Effect" on the button below the list of magic enchantments (click it once and it should say "Constant effect"); I think that when you put any soul gem and any item (maybe not weapons) together to enchant, the default for this button is "Cast when used" not "Constant effect"

Yeah, weird huh? I wanted to enchant something, I don't remember what, DLS, DSS, an axe, who knows... but I want this baby to do some serious damage. I thing shock would be cool, and I find I can cram, say 15-20 points worth (of Damage on Strike) into it. I delete the "Shock Damage" and switch off to "Fire Damage" instead... Whoa! Suddenly I can dish out 40 points per strike (40-40)! I'm just tossing numbers out, but I think they're actually pretty close to reality... At any rate... go figure.

What I do when I want a certain item but I can't make it in the game because of enchantment points is I make it in the construction set. This may sound like cheating a bit but I give it to an NPC and sell it back to myself for the same price I would have had to pay for enchanting anyways. Pretty expensive.
