An easier way to fix quests?

I'm currently following the below instructions I wrote for myself, but there must be an easier way. All I want to do is find the name of a quest that's stuck and advance or complete it in the console.

To get quest name:

sqt
(shows list of most quests)
(might be possible to guess from here)
sv
(after clicking an object or NPC involved in the quest - if you can find one!)
(shows the quest involved)
help [quest name] 0
(confirms you have the right one)
Once you have quest name:
showqueststages [name of quest]
(shows list of stages - sqo would show objectives, which are different)
getstage [name of quest]
(shows stage we're on)
setstage [name of quest]
moves to the stage you want to do next (doesn't complete it, makes it the current thing to do)
completequest [name or ID of quest]
(completes quest)

do you have unofficial fallout 4 patch installed? if not, install that - it fixes an absolute TON of problems.

there's never any need to futz around with quests unless you are hell bent on breaking your game.

Yes I have the patch. Quests are buggy, especially from mods. I know it's not me, because others post about the same problems. I need a way to shove a quest forward if I've done something but the game hasn't noticed it.

You missed a command. Setstage by itself doesn't always work. Sometimes you need setobjectivecompleted. So to advance the quest you would "setobjectivecompleted quest 10", then "setstage quest 20". That completes the current stage, then advances to the next stage.

I thought objectives and stages were different? I am now further confused.
