So I have a very basic knowledge of Vortex. I recently built a new computer, and have gone to install my mods, but any mod I attempt, with the exception of F4SE, will be stuck 'installing.' I can unpack as-is, but cannot custom install any mods such as CBBE, Enhanced Lights, etc. I am running the most up to date vortex from nexus, Doing this for Fallout 4.

What do you mean "Custom Install"?

Also, where is Fallout 4 installed?

Where is your Mod Staging Folder?

When I say install, more like I don't know what the menu(s) are really called. Whenever I installed mods on my previous PC, you would click through the menus, allowing for you to customize the mods you are downloading. After that, enable then deploy the mod(s).

F4 is installed in its default position, (Local Disk, Program Files x86, Steam, steamapps, common, Fallout4)

Vortex Mods are located in (*user*, AppData, Roaming, Vortex, fallout4)

Because of where the games are installed Program Files (x86) Windows and/or your AV program is preventing it from installing, because Windows over-protects that particular folder to the point where windows prevents windows from working properly.

Either you're using Windows Defender, and "Controlled Folder Access" is turned on, or you're using a Free AV program that thinks EVERYTHING is a Virus and is preventing your mods from installing, or there's a Hidden Confirmation Pop-Up that is waiting for you to click "OK" that isn't showing in the foreground.

i'd remove fallout from its current location and install it outside of program files - you're going to be in a world of pain putting it in program files.

If you don't mind me asking, where do you recommend I relocate F4 to? That's where it's always been, so I've never thought of putting it elsewhere.

Side note: I went back over my AV, uninstalled my previous, enable windows security, and the problem pertains.

I appreciate y'all helping me out.

Did you turn OFF "Controlled Folder Access" in Windows Defender?

Install the game anywhere except the WNDOWS Folder, and Program Files (x86) folder
