trafficriot911
I'm using vortex and skyrim sse first and foremostTruth is i expected this. My plan was to create a new mod profile and build a modlist with less mods (165 in original modlist and it was too much for my laptop).Anyway i don't mind waiting but when i create a new profile it tries to deploy all 165 mods but constantly starts over when it gets to the end of deployment.I deleted the archive files (zips rars etc). Didnt think that would cause any issues but figured i would mention it.What i want to do is create a new profile that starts with 0 mods instead of inheriting my current mod list and getting stuck in a loop.Is there a way to purge mods before creating a new profile (so it only deploys the esms that came with the game) and then deploy only the mods i want to use? Preferably without affecting the profile that has 165 mods?TLDR: i want to create a new profile but don't want it to try to deploy all the mods from my current profile,i just want the new profile to start with 0 mods
HadToRegister
Symlinks, or Hardlinks over a networked drive.I'm not surprised it's slow. Also, I'm not sure WHY you did that, it's not like everybody else on the network can use your deployed mods. The only thing I would've put on the networked drive would be the Vortex DOWNLOAD folder, so everybody has access to it, if that would even work.If you're trying to make some sort of "Communal Vortex" install, I doubt this will work. trafficriot911
I'm doing it because the laptop doesn't have enough storage. Long loading time isn't a big deal to me but I think realistically it will only be able to run with say 50 mods as getting from an external network harddrive to RAM on my laptop will take an excruiciatingly long time. If I could just get Vortex to switch to a new profile without deploying all my mods. Is it possible without disabling all the mods on my default profile? Guest deleted34304850
going to ask - what did you expect?the answer is - don't do what you did and expect good performance.
trafficriot911
I expected it to be slow to start. All the other games I play work fine. Dark Souls 2, which is probably 12 GB of game data takes about 5-7 minutes to load into RAM, once loaded the game runs fine. Same for the other games I play which are less demanding. Skyrim shouldn't be a problem as long as I keep the game's file size down. Problem is, with my current modlist the game is in the 50-60 GB range and the transfer that from network hard drive to my laptop's RAM is so taxing that it gets stuck in a loop. SSE with all my mods takes a solid 20-30 minutes to deploy on Vortex and the game itself crashes, its unplayable. I didn't want to mess up my original save game profile but at this point I might have to. How can I get vortex to "forget" the mods I had previously deployed? Rattledagger
Doing a very quick test with Skyrim, not SSE but the original one. With only SKSE + SkyUI + unofficial patches, putting game and Vortex mod-files on network drive works and starting game only takes 16 seconds, whereof a few of the seconds is for playing the logo-video. Still, one disadvantage is, every time you deploy, purge or switches between profiles it seems all files are detected as "External changes". At least with original Skyrim it kind-of-work, but I wouldn't recommend doing this. edit - running Skyrim from SSD takes 11 seconds to start the game, meaning even with this small setup you'll use 5 second longer to start the game off networked HD.
