Guest deleted34304850 Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 question for the devs, if they get time. a scenario exists where a user uninstalls a game, and with that uninstall all the mod files are removed too.a time later, the user re-installs the game, starts vortex, which is now trying to understand the state of the game, because vortex's data shows that one or more mods must be deployed, to match the data vortex is using.this can cause vortex to enter "preparing" for a long time. is there a method, via a command line argument or some other way - that a user could "reset" or "clear" data from vortex which is no longer accurate, reverting vortex back to almost a brand new state, so that once the user re-installs their game, vortex no longer tries to restore the mod settings to match the obsolete data its referencing? as vortex has no way to know that a game has been removed from a pc, when such an event occurs vortex's data is no longer valid, and can lead to issues further down the line.
AugustaCalidia Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't deleting the game profiles first and then uninstalling the game accomplish that reset? If I'm wrong in thinking this, then I too would favor some sort of "reset button," as 1ae0bfb8 has suggested.
Guest deleted34304850 Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 hmm, never done that - i think you may be on to something there. nice observation!
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted September 30, 2021 Community Manager Posted September 30, 2021 You can unmanage a game from the games tab. This removes all mods and profiles.
Guest deleted34304850 Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 nice one Picky! Thanks mate!over in vortex support, there's a thread that prompted this question. i may pop back there and have the OP try that if they get no joy.
