Ludsama
Hi, everyone!I decided to use Sangre's (him again, yeah) Tizona and Colada and I was yet again disapointed. La Tizona and La Colada are, like everyone who likes swords has to know, the two swords once possessed by Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar otherwise known after the title the Moors gave him: Al Sidi, converted to El Cid Campeador by the Spanish people of his time.Mr. Sangre took upon him to bring those two fabulous blades to OBLIVION for our greatest enjoyment, and that's good; however he messed up big time and THAT is no good: first thing, BOTH swords are ONE-HANDED, not one of them is a mandoble as he seems to believe it. Secondly, he just made TWO versions of the Tizona, one and two handed, calling the latter "Colada". What gives? Ignorance, laziness, or just plain old carelessness, whatever his reason is, he can't tell he didn't know what he was doing. He himself posted a crapton of pictures of the true Colada, so he did know what it actually looks like.Beside with a name like "Sangre" ('blood' in Spanish) mistaking La Tizona for La Colada, he'd just shame all of the Iberian community all over the world and their History. So if someone actually knows what this sword is meant to look like it would be great if they could yet again correct the mess made by Sangre and bring the REAL La Colada to Oblivion.Addendum: That's twice already counting his catastrophic textures for Mount And Blade: One Hundred Years War's swords that Sangre's mod find need to be retouched. So if he comes to read this post, I highly suggest he quit rushing his mods and take some time to look closely at what he's done to correct his own mistakes before releasing erratic works that need to be worked over by the community in order to be satisfactory/faithful. That's really a pity since of the two swords, according to me, La Colada is the most beautiful, not depreciating La Tizona. The incriminated mod http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23621/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D23621%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D114081&pUp=1 and a picture of the actual La Colada http://www.aurorahistoryboutique.com/C000503.htmand a less sophisticated version, more common http://www.aceros-de-hispania.com/cid-campeador.htm Edited August 1, 2013 by Ludsama
Lanceor
Suggesting that a mod author is lazy, ignorant or careless isn't going to win you any favours with other mod authors. Suggesting that someone should "quit rushing his mods" and "correct his own mistakes before releasing erratic works" isn't going to make you popular either. I suggest that you quit rushing your posts and take some time to reread them before publishing something insulting. Even if in your opinion Sangre's mod wasn't up to standard, he did put in time and effort to learn how to make it from scratch, and then released it for everyone to download freely without asking anything in return. Want to make the sword two-handed? Editing one variable in the CS and NifSKope fixes that = it's a good way to start dabbling with modding. Don't like the textures? Feel free to make a better one and upload a patch. Don't know how to do any of this? Neither did Sangre when he was making those swords - if you think you can do a better job, then maybe you can. Nothing is stopping you trying.
mhahn123
I'll second that comment in it's entirety. Posting a cry for help when you would like something changed and don't know how is acceptable. Smearing the mod author in public while making that plea for help is another story altogether. Maybe Sangre did things that way because he wasn't skilled enough to pull it off perfectly at the time. And that's fine...it's why we post updates to our mods when we figure things out better. I for one can testify that texturing takes a good bit of practice to really grasp. Until you try it for yourself and produce better results, you probably shouldn't be knocking another persons work. Modders do this as a hobby, on their free time, with no payment asked or expected. They (myself included) hope to see a few favorable comments now and again... and honest constructive criticism is ok too, but not somebody bashing them over the head because the mod didn't fit their idea of what it should be. Ludsama
Maybe I was bad mooded and I was harsh at that time I'll admit it. My bad. Tho it is not "my idea of what the mod should be" here. It's downright fake advertisement. If you see something like this in my country, you are even entitled to sue the involved company.I reproach him for claiming that he made the Colada when it is not in the mod and he does know it. I'll just slide on the two-handed/one-handed part as I can easily address that myself in the CS. I did already. As for the textures, he showed that he CAN do it, as the sword in this mod has a nigh perfect steel look blade and antiquated bronze hilt, guard, and pommel. On the contrary the swords he made in his other mod look like chewed paper, painted wet clay, polystyrene or God knows what.So maybe it's only in this country I live in, but according to all of my former teachers, when someone has clearly shown being able to do something and decides not to do it despite possessing the skills, it's called sloth. They all agreed on this point.
DrakeTheDragon
Seems you still don't get it. Fine. But do you really expect "any" mod authors at all to rush in to your request here now, only to risk ending up on the wrong end of your insults next, once they failed to meet your high standards as well?I fail to see anybody feeling like that anytime soon. I for one don't.
Maskar
Sounds like mod/modder bashing, rather than a serious mod request imo. Edited August 2, 2013 by Maskar
