Logging me out after 5 minutes...constantly!

What is the deal with the whole nexus forums? I login, I find a post to check out, I read a post for 5 minutes, I go to reply, I write my reply, I click "post reply" and....nothing....because I've been logged out...and have to log back in and rewrite my reply :mad: This has been happening constantly ever since I signed up here. I rarely have trouble logging in so its not that whole DDS attack thing. Do you folks have it set to log people out after 5 minutes or something? What gives? I've never been on any other forum that logs you out so damn quick. :down: Please stop.

This is the first I've ever heard of this problem on the forums. We had an issue with logins on the site (separate issue) that we cleared up a week or so ago and since then I haven't had a single report.

 

I'd check for something on your end because if it was an issue on ours you and I would know about it; there'd be threads everywhere about it. Ensure your antivirus/antimalware/firewall/security plugins in your browser aren't blocking the session or cookie. Try browsing the forums in a different browser and seeing if that's it.

 

If another browser works fine, it's your browser. If no browser works, it's some software on your PC.

I use the latest version of Firefox. I know millions of others use that as well so I don't think its my browser? I have never had a problem on any other forum with Firefox. I use Avast for antivirus and have "forums.nexusmods.com" in my exclusions list. Once again....never had a problem on any forum with Avast. I will try using IE 10 for awhile when browsing here and see if that is any different.

PS...sorry for sounding so angry...had been up all night and getting logged off every 5 mins was getting me upset. You do great work and I am a huge fan of the Nexus :geek:

You're right, millions of other people use FireFox, so if that's the case there'd be a lot more people reporting this issue which they aren't, which normally (not always, but normally) points to it being something on your end.

 

There's so many different config combinations and software setups on PCs that it's extremely hard to troubleshoot what exactly is causing the problem. Typically you need to go through each thing one at a time until you find the culprit, which is a massive pain in the backside :(

Well..I figured it out. It was Firefox. I added this site to the exceptions list to allow cookies and now I'm not getting logged off. I still don't know why Firefox is bugging? I have my settings to always accept all 3rd party cookies. I do not block cookies from any website. I visit many forums/websites and never have a problem. Also as stated earlier, millions use Firefox...so why is no-one else having this problem? Why only this site does the Fox F* me? Why only this site do I have to manually add it as an exception? weird. Oh well...case closed.
