Skyrim SE & Anniversary Edition Update

Well okay, this wasn't something I knew too much about. I knew that they were going to do their whole "re releasing Skyrim" thing again, but something I must have missed, is that Skyrim SE is actually going to be updated. So as someone that's unfortunately already updated my Skyrim SE, is there a recommended route to revert to my previous version of Skyrim SE? The update just looked like it may have been a Creation Club update, so I thought nothing of it.

The game itself loads into a black screen, so there isn't much I can do as far as "playing" the game goes. SKSE not working is problematic, and the time waiting for a compatible version of SKSE is going to be a while. That's two thumbs down there Todd - you should have made it completely optional, not a forced sneak attack.

Now that it's already updated, now I'm in a pretty awkward position, and cannot play my modded Skyrim SE. And like many other people that don't have (or just purely had no idea the angle Bethesda was taking) the time to really look into all of this before it happens. A lot of us just want to play, and not have this hassle.

One of the recommended things to do is to "back up Skyrim SE"... So! For those that have not had the great fun of doing so, and had already updated Skyrim SE - is there a way to revert to the previous version, before the update for Anniversary Edition (update 11/11/2021 - ie. worst, update, ever... Todd).

It would be much appreciated if there is a resource I can download, or if there is a guide I can be directed to, to "fix" this update, and revert the to previous version before this update.

Kind regards,

A nerd

So was the SAE the 3.28 Gigs it added on? How and where exactly are all the new things? I want to see if it loaded correctly. For some reason, I am unsure if I got the entire Anniversary edition. HELP!

@righteousgoddoward - I'm fairly sure that is the update, correct. That is the update they were warning people about, but sadly, I only read or saw the warnings AFTER updating.

Well i have finished installing 11.2 GB download from Steam over 3 Hours, but when i try to launch i got an error dialogue box, cant remember exactly what exactly in orange box a number of errors, then i exit, then when i Launch without any

mods, i saw a X upgrade to Skyrim anversery edition, i did press X then took me to steam to finish upgrade, then i was thinking if i complete upgrade no more nexus mods, i think i not proceed quite, ask nexus should i do or not, i might see

if since i did not accept i try SKSE 64.

So the question might be, if update, may not got back to prevous version, so the logical steps for all on nexus, go back to Skyrim Legendary Edition, only if own that 32 Bit version, and use mods like Mortum Castle, and Molag Bals temple

would that be a better solution to the problem to avoid the Aniversary edition for Skyrim SE not Legendary edition God Howard did not think of that one.

Also thinking how bad the Creation Kit is, so as i can use Unreal Engine 5 early release, well it is a form of creating real real world photorealism, see if it could be put into Skyrims Folder, and use a state of the art game engine, using nanites

and lumos and ray tracing in creating skyrim modding, and if it could be done, it would benifit everyone, alse UE5 uses C++ as well as can choose blue printing, it is only a thought.

Thanks ... although don't know the difference between MODs. I just play and enjoy :-)

Removed all and started to add one or two at the time to see which MOD is causing it ... arduous work since the #¤¤&¤# sever error keeps popping up and now one can't just push B Have to reload the game after every "error"

Any tip of how to make the distinction between the SKSe MODs and non SKSe MODS.

Would be much appreciated, coz it's not easy to log in to the MOD section today, guess I'm not the only one wanting in :-D

okay, thanks ... but it is some MOD that caused the black screen, coz now I can load a saved game ... with only 1/3 of MODs loaded ... so far. Guess I'll have to continue tomorrow to do the boring, slow going work to add couple MODs at the time until I catch the one(s) that cause it ...

If anybody has a faster way, I'm all ears ... eyes :-)
