No Sound with mp3s

I posted this over in Oblivion Tech Support, but I think it fits here better.

Many of the mp3 voice files for mods are silent. The mods I've noticed this in are Glenvar Castle, High Rock Castle, Delayed Main Quest, HoarFrost Castle, and Bank of Cyrodil. There may very well be others. and it is not always every file within the mod.

I've noticed a very odd thing. The files never have a .lip file and are always the same size within the folder, usually 39k, 70k or 79k.

I just downloaded both Glenvar Voice and Voice/Lip mods and HoarFrost Castle mod to look at the contents in both WinRAR and 7-z.

Here is a partial contents for HoarFrost in 7-z. Every mp3 is identical in size and show a huge compression ratio. Both of the Glenvar voice mods show similar peculiarities, though not so pervasive. At first I thought it was my system, but now I am beginning to wonder if the problem lies in the mods storage at TESNexus.

I guess, until this is fixed, I will have to turn closed captioning back on.

Can someone else please double check my findings to assure me that I still have a few marbles left? or let me know it is time for a trip to the toy store to reload.

seems they are just this, silent mp3, meant to avoid the subtitle passing too quickly.

The name Glenvar voices suggests it is, really, voice files to be placed in the correct folder substituting the silent ones in the correspondent mod. Since I don't know that mod and you didn't show it here I can't be sure. The others may be just voiceless.

PS: A quick look at the mod description and one shall see this statement (HoarFrost Castle mod):

"- Not a conflict or a bug, but just so that you're aware: Hoarfrost Castle does not have recorded voice for character dialogue, so make sure you have subtitles turned on."

If one does not care to read even the description of the things he installs, bad or not good things may happens, like being abducted by aliens.

PS2: Albeit your post was a bit hushed, this shows not everyone knows than many quest mods are voiceless, and indeed it's better this way than a poorly voiced one. Some of them eventually receive voices, and this is not aways from the original author. That Glenvar Castle voices mod seems to represent the case where voices were added afterwards the release, and this arises the question:

Have you the original mod too? note this mod is probably just a complement. The original Glenvar Castle MUST be installed first and the voices afterward or the files from it will be overwriten again by the silent ones.

Well, that explains everything. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why all the mp3's were the same size. Yes, I do have all the mods installed correctly and everything is at it should be, except I was a bit surprised to hear silence,

Thanks for the reply and I'm off to the toy store tomorrow for a fresh supply of marbles.
