pygothian
The past week everytime I come to skyrim nexus it says I'm no logged in. It is frustrating to have to manually log in every session. No other sites I go to have been affected. I've not changed any settings in my options regarding cookies, or any firewall settings. My ipad remains always logged in, however it is this desktop using win 7 x64, firefox 23, that seems to be the problem. I was wondering if anyone knows why the site fails to remember login details, or is there some new box to check somewhere in the preferences to remember, as when I manually type it in each time, there is no check box, and firefox never prompts to remember either. Thandal
Check your browser settings. The behaviour you describe indicates that cookies aren't being stored. (At least not for the Nexus sties.) That's the mechanism the sites use to store logon info.
pygothian
Hi, as I mentioned I've made no changes to the cookies. They are currently set as follows; Tools / Options / Privacy / Tell sites I want to be tracked / History / Custom Settings for history ; + remember browser history + remember search history + accept cookies from sites + accept third party cookies -> always + keep until they expire -> always When I go to show cookies, and look for the skyrim nexus ones, they actually specifiy to expire at the end of every session, as if the cookie being sent by nexus is telling it to not stay. I think it may be a cookie error on the nexus end. Cheers
bben46
Nope - works for everyone else.they actually specifiy to expire at the end of every session, as if the cookie being sent by nexus is telling it to not stay. This is not specified from our end. But is set by your cookie management.Possibly an update to your browser? Firewall? Antivirus? Are you running any kind of sandbox? JimboUK
Once logged in try logging out properly and then back in again.
pygothian
Hmm very strange. I've tried as you suggested jim_uk, to no avail. I've tried deleting all cookies and passwords, been to my various sites and re-logged in, and all work, including this the nexus forums, but still skyrim nexus is the only site that does not remember the details and every single time opens with me not logged in, and advertisments despite being a premium member. With regards to your questions bben46, I did update my browser to firefox 23 and that has kind of co-incided with this happening, but it would be strange that no other site has been affected. I've made no changes to my AVG 2013, and I'm sorry but don't know what a sandbox is. Kind regards
Thandal
Problem is unique(-ish) to you, pygothian. Nexus uses cookies to "remember" who you are. No other mechanism, and it's working fine for everyone else regardless of browser. (And believe me, we have them all; Chrome, Opera, SeaMonkey, IceWeasel, you name it... we've seen it!) Dark0ne
Try going to another Nexus site (not the forums). Are you logged in there but not on Skyrim? That would suggest a site problem. But if you're not logged in on any site then it would suggest a problem on your end.
pygothian
Hi Dark0ne, I will try as you suggest when I get home. Everything seems fine on this ipad, which makes me think it is Firefox 23, just very strange how it seems to pick the site I visit the most as the one it doesn't remember ! I'll also try downgrade back to v22 and see if the problem resolves. Thanks for the tips
bben46
I use FF23 - and haven't seen this problem. Look in tools>options>privacy go down to History.Make sure the selection in the box is 'Use custom settings for history'Always use private mode - unchecked (unless you really want to hide your browsing history from anyone else who uses your computer)Remember my browsing and download history - doesn't matter - I erase my history when I exit anyway so mine is unchecked.Remember search & form history and Accept cookies from sites should be checkedAccept third party cookies - use the from visitedKeep until - they expireNow look to the right for the exceptions box - make sure that any nexus related cookies are not blocked. Then add skyrim.nexusmods.com ( type it in - or copy paste from the actual site into the address of website) - then click on 'Allow' - you can do this for any other sites that have the same problem You can use the show cookies to show what cookies are already stored -Look to right to find the settings blockUnder the when I quit... be sure cookies is NOT checked.under Data'Saved passwords' and 'site preferences' should not be checked. Offline data - probably doesn't matter. Now back out of privacy and select SecurityUnder "Passwords' if you use the FF remember passwords function - make sure remember passwords is checked. Look to the right for 'Exceptions' (The second exceptions directly opposite the remember passwords) Make sure that the skyrim.nexusmods.com is not listed as an exception. The saved Passwords box gives you a good place to look at all of your saved FireFox passwords - a good place to look if you forget a password for a site - or keep getting a wrong password message. Let me know if this works and I may add it to my troubleshooting blog.
