PureSnipe
We're already making bio-plastics that are petrol free, and heck, there was an Indy car that ran on straight ethanol! I mean, jeesh, do we really have to eat corn? We don't even digest it fully ffs!!
exanimis
Here is an interesting link for those of you are holding on to hope for the electric car LINK I bet you didn't know that one third of the cars on the road in New York city, Boston and Chicago were electric cars in the year 1900. It's a shame that the only actually usable electric vehicle, the EV1 was recalled and destroyed in 2003.
Skree000
Speaking of shielding homes from nuclear fallout.... I wasn't aware that the US now has First-Strike legislation, allowing it to nuke 'threatening' countries before they attack. Wow. Maybe THEY should get special homes shielding them from fallout lol quote: The "Pre-emptive" Use of Nuclear Weapons The Bush Administration has adopted a first strike "pre-emptive" nuclear policy, which has now received congressional approval. Nuclear weapons are no longer a weapon of last resort as during the Cold War era. In a classified Pentagon document (Nuclear Posture Review) presented to the US Senate in early 2002, the Bush Administration established so-called "contingency plans" for an offensive "first strike use" of nuclear weapons, not only against the "axis of evil" (Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria and North Korea), but also against Russia and China. The pre-emptive nuclear doctrine contained in the Nuclear Posture Review is supported by the Republican Party and Washingtons conservative think-tanks: "The Pentagon must prepare for all possible contingencies, especially now, when dozens of countries, and some terrorist groups, are engaged in secret weapon development programs." (quoted in William Arkin, Secret Plan Outlines the Unthinkable, Los Angeles Times, 9 March 2002) While scaling back in agreement with Russia on the number of nuclear warheads, the Pentagon's objective is not only to modernize' its nuclear arsenal, but also to establish "full spectrum dominance" in outer space. With advanced surveillance equipment and space weaponry, the U.S. would be able to inflict force locally and instantly anywhere in the world, directly from orbiting satellites, using an appropriate level of pain and doing so with impunity. The US, Britain and Israel have a coordinated nuclear weapons policy. Israeli nuclear warheads are pointed at major cities in the Middle East. The governments of all three countries stated quite openly, in the months leading up to the war on Iraq, that they were prepared to use nuclear weapons "if they are attacked" with so-called "weapons of mass destruction." Barely a few weeks following the entry of the US Marines into Baghdad in April 2003, the US Senate Armed Services Committee gave the green light to the Pentagon to develop a new tactical nuclear bomb, to be used in conventional war theaters, "with a yield [of up to] six times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb". source:The above text was presented at the opening plenary of the European IPPNW Conference: "Nuclear Weapons and Energy in an Unstable World - Analysis and Solutions", Berlin, 7-9 May 2004. http://globalresearch.ca/articles/CHO405A.html

Lokichan
I had to join this conversation, being a political scientist and someone who was recruited to work in Congress I have some opinionated things to add. I care about people. Including all of you. Tough love time. But the mainstay government doesn't give a ____ about you. It functions are to: Retain power, Control the masses, Expand Power, Make money. Rinse, and repeat. In this "doomsday" emergency scenario do you know what the plan is? Protect those in charge Who Matter. Control the masses with military force and "draft" citizens into taking part in martial law as a supposed military police used to enforce rules upon other citizenry. Those who do not cooperate will be thrown into work camps (which those will quickly become overpopulated) and when those are are filled up don't expect a five star funeral service. This is why America is at war. In essence to curb its own downfall. The economy is in the dumpster and the capitalist mode we have for a govt cannot sustain a negative income. And why is the economy bad? Could it be the money grubbing power hungry people who make profit off of our country's foreign policies?Could it be your fault for electing and RE-ELECTING these people into office?Could it be the Trillions of dollars in debt our country owes for its weapons production and failed investments?Could it be the the government's own military officials and elected representatives who have sold and continue to sell massive amounts of weaponry to countries where we have vested interests in resources?Could it be the Legislatures who again and again give tax breaks to companies...who still take their work overseas?Could it be your fault because you being a consumerist bargain bloodhound will buy pieces of ___clothing made in china from Wall Mart, instead of something a little more expensive made in your own country?Could it be that Reaganomics doesn't work?Could it be our constant interference in other countries domestic disputes which leads us to spend more money on military action? Its all of this and more, a large enough list to write a novel for grandma. This war isn't going to have an "ending" without the end of our country. So campers get a visa and learn to speak Brazilian, or else become a Appalachian mountaineer. It'll be awhile before it rains, but an umbrella and a band-aid kit aren't going be enough to fix your boo boos. Disclaimer-All information disclosed about a "doomsday" scenario, was summarized, originally it was read directly from high ranking official's documents of FEMA's procedures in the event of wide scale Martial Law. LHammonds
And what irritates me greatly is that the 1st people they go after when they declare martial law will be registered gun owners. The only ones capable of defending themselves from the tyranny of government. People with education will also have targets painted on their heads...as history has proven time and time again. History is like some sort of perverse manual for the people in power. I am in such a horrible place in my mind right now that I cannot find a solution to this mess that will avoid us falling back into brutal subjugation...well, not one that is allowed to be mentioned on these forums. There are so many people that have their heads buried so far into the ground that it isn't even funny. EDIT: 2nd to last sentence is about what is written in the Bible...did not want to imply anything else. ;)

If you don't, the only proof of sale is the 4473 you fill out at the place you've purchased the gun, and if the person that sold it is sound in the head, they know what to do with those forms if someone comes knocking. :whistling: ::Sound of shredder::
LHammonds
The new administration wants to make the "registrations" a recorded event. So if you buy a new gun, they not only do a background check but also permanently record what you purchased. They are also looking to put a stop to the face-to-face transactions by making it a felony to own any gun that is not registered. Oh, and registration is to be done yearly at $25 per weapon! Couple that with the bullets not being able to be fired 2 months after being manufactured and they do not need to take guns away, you simply won't be able to afford them. And if you have them, you won't be proficient in using them because it costs too much to shoot.
PureSnipe
Thus the reason we have over 5000 rounds of 5.56 ammo!! XD
LHammonds
By the time I started to collect ammo, it was already too late. It became impossible to purchase .223 ammo and what little I had went to target practice fully expecting I could buy more. DOH!
