How can "Vengeance" possibly not be referred to in this topic?

 

It is so good, for taking out, those pretty enclave helicopters...

 

They look so good in pieces on the ground...

 

It's more like a force of nature than a weapon of course.

 

But only the big boys will venture into the Death Claws Caverns in order to retrieve it...

I would definitely say that the Hunting Rifle is my favorite. Just because it's a normal old bolt-action rifle. It just feels cool to have a rusted gun in a post-apocalyptic world with a torn-up stock wrapped in duct tape. It gives that classic, survival necessity vibe.

Without mods, I like to switch between either (small guns) The Terrible Shotgun and Lincolns Repeater or (energy weapons) Plasma Rifle and Laser Rifle. I'll use plasma at shotgun ranges.

 

The scoped .44 is the most fun, and I'll use that when VATS gets boring.

 

If mods are included:

 

1) Sydney's "Ultra" SMG

Its a silenced 10mm automatic with a short-zoom scope and 50 round mag. The damage is reasonable - with 100 Small Arms, one bullet will torso-hit a fly for 75% of its health at normal difficulty. The rate of fire seems slightly increased over a standard 10mm smg when the "Ultra" is in near-perfect condition, but it rapidly slows with use. Bursts used at medium and single shots at long range.

 

2) QJG-89

A .50cal semi-auto with a more powerful scope than the standard sniper rifle and a 50 round mag. Three torso shots will kill a Deathclaw at normal difficulty. One hit will kill almost anything eventually as it adds/renews a -5 health per second for 5 minutes status effect with each hit (bleeding). Rate of fire compares to the standard 10mm pistol. Used at all ranges with spawn altering mods to generate crowds of 30+ mercs/raiders/enclave goons.

 

3) AA-12

Its a 20 round combat shotgun that fires as quick as you click. The scope usually just gets in the way, as this weapon is best used at very close range against multiple targets as it fills the air with projectiles even faster than a minigun but with an even sloppier spread.

1. Arashi1532's KC2 Rifle. 40 round capacity + high fire rate + high damage = win. Great for coping with an onslaught of Increased Increased Respawn raiders.

2. Krigos' Silenced Dragunov. Silent death anyone?

3. Frederyck's MS490 shotgun. Perfect for close quarters.

4. The frag grenade, because if you use in VATS at close quarters and you're lucky it can look like you're hitting someone over the head with a grenade.
