Crim, The Red Thunder
PLEASE tell me im not screwed over with this. I was behind on leveling up (had 2 levels saved up that i hadnt used...) and had just finished a quest returning me to balmora. I dropped by the mages guild to sleep and had 'a strange dream'... the journal entry is quoted here: 29 Sun's Dusk (Day 106)I had a disturbing dream. I can only recall one part. A tall figure with a golden mask led me among the dead as through a wedding celebration. I heard many voices, but no lips moved. I strained to breathe, but my chest didn't move. The tall figure spoke with each figure as he passed among them, laughing and joking, as if they were alive, but they made no reply. I tried to cry out, but without breath, my tongue fluttered in vain. PLEASE tell me im not screwed over... PLEASE... i checked my statistics (read: bonuses... like fortify magicka 5 points, or feather 100 points, or resist common/blight/corprus disease 100%) and i dont have vampirism, but i also dont have the werewolf disease (where would i get it? Ive never fought a were-creature...) and those are the only occasions i can think of where you get a dream... Someone PLEASE tell me what the hell is going on! I dont know if this is a standard part of morrowind, tribunal, bloodmoon, or some one of my mods... (can post list if necessary...)My concern is having my character get screwed over... if i have been altered to something that makes me hated by any NPCS or some such... does ANYONE know what's going on here?!?!?!?!?? Peregrine
It's a normal part of the main quest. The dream has no effect besides adding to the story.
Crim, The Red Thunder
THANK YOU!!!! *Offers salisbury steak dinner on shrine to moderators* So what was the significance of the dream, or is there an NPC or something that tells me more about it in-game? This is the first one ive received (to my knowledge... havent looked through my 400 some odd page journal to check) so im not to sure. The only gold-masked people i can think of are ordinators, or possibly vivec, but that's not a mask, and its only half-gold... And was i supposed to receive this now or earlier, because the only things that i have done between the last time i actually USED the rest command were some semi-minor quests and reaching KotID of the imperial legion, as well as starting a few minor mages guild quests... but nothing to advance me any further... (OT: Peregrine, i take back every bad comment ive ever made about you!)
cmac
Gold-Mask in the dream is Dagoth Ur. As the Hellbird said, the dreams have no function other than to add juice to the storyline. Often, if you have those dreams while in Balmora, it will end with an attack from a Sixth House assassin. *Steals salisbury steak* To get that dream, I believe you had to complete the Retrieve Dwemer Puzzle Cube for Hasphat Antabolis. Crim, The Red Thunder
okayy... somethings wrong here. I have been SO far into the game, i already have the tools of the heart (all of em, the glove, hammer, and knife...) and have done god-only-knows how many quests, and proceeded so far into the game... and this is the first time i've had one... what caused the delay (beyond the fact that i didnt sleep that much...) as an update, i got 3 more after that. Each time i just rested 1 hour, all without moving, and FINALLY got my levelups... that's the only time i rest... so why didnt i get them oh.... say... 23 levels ago? (level 2) And even my other characters never saw these... and they got past that too... how often does the dream appear (assuming requirements are met)? is it a 1-xx chance? or what? None of my other characters did that well, and one even went so far as to sleep 'until healed' every hour or so, since he blew his magic in order to try and train the skills... and all of that after having gotten the cube... Switch
Strange thing is, I've actually had that sequence of dreams thing AFTER I killed Dagoth Ur and destroyed the heart. Main quest completed and yet some time after I got that dream. That's happened with about 2 of my characters now... go figure. I theorise originally it was gunna be a more significant part of the main quest, but then they dropped it and just left some remains of it in. It's funny you got it earlier on though before the destruction of the heart, maybe that means it's random.
Crim, The Red Thunder
I would suggest that it has something to do with WHERE you sleep, except that the same bed was used for both characters... the bottom-right bunk in the far corner across from the table in Balmora Mages Guild. I wonder if your level plays into the attempt in any way... i mean, maybe your level compared to your position in the main quest could affect it..,
Adras
I had that dream when I became a vampire. I know it wasnt from the main quest because I havent even delivered the papers to Caius yet. Have you been off poking fun at any vampires lately? You can tell if their name is Vampire or they have glowing eyes and a sort of echoy voice. Crim, The Red Thunder
Said that before already. Im not a vampire, i have corprus. Cant become one. (well, not easily... and not without purposely trying.)As for poking fun? Not unless you count wiping out the entire Berne clan "Poking fun"!!!!! Coolhandgoose
I would suggest that it has something to do with WHERE you sleep I think, but I'm not positive, that if you clear out the sixth house base near the town that you are sleeping you won't get the dream. Just like there are no more dreamers around if you kill the base near the town.
