SkyUI, SKSE, and Skyrim Mod Organizer

I'm doing a clean install of Skyrim. I've installed the current version of SKSE using its installer, and I'm using "Skyrim Mod organizer" to install mods. One of the first mods I'm installing is SkyUI, but when I try, the Mod Organizer stops the installation and tells me "The Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) is not installed".

Given the fact that SKSE is installed, how can I resolve this issue? This has never been an issue before, and I believe I used the same versions of SKSE and SkyUI during the previous install, back in August. Do you think the problem lies with Skyrim Mod Organizer?

SKSE 1.6.16

SkyUI4.1

Thanks for your time.

I have the same problem. But since I have already installed the SKSE installer, it's no use saying, "don't use the SKSE installer".....

And how can you put the files in the folder manually, when all you get when you DL is an installer. I assume the files are in the installer, but how to you extract them? Which files are you referring to? Which folder do you put them in?

Right next to the installer link you clicked on the skse page is a '7z archive' link which has the manual files. You need to run SKSE through Mod Organizer, it needs administrator privileges, and you need to stop any anti-viruses from looking in your Skyrim folder and deleting it.

That's great if you use NMM... but the OP has mentioned, specifically, that he wants to use Mod Organizer.

I can identify, because I actually found this thread by google searching for a solution to exactly MO SkyUI and SKSE.

There are video and text tutorials all over the place (gopher is awesome btw) about how to do any/everything with NMM... but it's so difficult to find

the slightest peak of a MO tutorial.

Now we all know that MO is a far better program/tool for organizing your mods and load orders, but nobody seems to take the time to flood the sites

and youtube with real tutorials, like gopher has done with NMM. I used NMM for a while, but when my load order got to be over 100 and I was having

more than frequent CTD, ILS and just plain freezing up, I decided it was time for MO.

I uninstalled EVERYTHING on my pc.. I have only got a 120gb SSD, so when I say everything, I mean literally every single thing. Windows and a few small programs like Speccy. Then I reinstalled Steam, Skyrim, MO, NMM, TES5Edit, Boss, and a few other little here and theres. then I put in my flash drive (copied folder of NMM Mods folder), and began installing them all onto MO.. it seems to be ok, haven't fully tested it yet, but Im having some trouble with a couple of things still

SKSE SKYUI and until just a few minutes ago FNIS... finally got that one going I think.

Now I'm sure that some other things will come up due to getting all the mods from NMM mods folder copy, but as of now, SKSE and SkyUi are my only standing problems.... ONLY FOR MOD ORGANIZER. They will/would work find in NMM.. but I'm not using it.

So, if anyone out there is reading this (somehow) and is proficient with MO, PLEASE help us out.

If you can't be bothered to reply here, help everyone by posting a tutorial specifically detailing how to get these 3 things to work with MOD ORGANIZER.

or better yet, make a youtube vid about it.

break it down for those of us who aren't proficient with MO yet, and just need to get our stupid SKSE running so we can use SKYUI and any other mods that it requires.

Thanks a ton.

EDIT: To be more clear. SKSE actually seems to work, its really just SKYUI that's the problem. it will NOT install. after downloading it to MO, when I try to install it, It stops working immediately. gives an error code.. 3762507597

Ive reinstalled SKSE several times, everyway possible, even through NMM, never changes the SKYUI install error.

EDIT: Then I found this... Awesome :/

Here's how to fix it (messy but functional)

install mod organizer

install SKSE by directly copying the files into the game folder (no overwrites which is fine)

open the archive for skyUI and dump the esp and bsa directly into the data folder

point mod organizer to load SKSE's launcher as default.

add other mods as desired.

And yes, i am aware of the issues with this method like "wtf is the point of mod organizer if this is issue" but frankly i use mod organizer to manage my mods, and the core interface module for PC users and the core script extender for the engine I'm not hugely worried about. both easy to cleanse down the line if you get into trouble.

Hope this helps some peeps.

Just wanted to say thanks. This seems to have done the trick.

Hi, I seem to have the same problem and have tried many different methods to install SkyUI 4.1 correctly. I get skyui error code 5 when opening my inventory and favourites (basiclally all the swfs are not working) I have fresh installed skyrimLE (not on steam)

I installed MO and used this guide http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/272owf/super_epic_guide_beginners_guide_section_21/
I followed each step carefully, installed SKSE and all the patches in order, LOOTing them and rebuiding bashed patch.

I then used TES5EDIT to clean some of the updates using a video by gopher posted on the guide above.

I installed a couple of small bugfix mods and then decided to install SKYUI before i started with any others.

Things i've tried:
- Ignoring the warnings about skse scripts in MO when installing skyui
- Removed it and then reinstalled skse manually (i typed getskseversion into console and it confirmed i have v1.7.01). Reinstalled skyui using MO.

- this ->

install mod organizer

install SKSE by directly copying the files into the game folder (no overwrites which is fine)

open the archive for skyUI and dump the esp and bsa directly into the data folder

point mod organizer to load SKSE's launcher as default.

add other mods as desired.

My modlist:

Unmanaged: SkyUI
Unmanaged: HearthFires

Unmanaged: Dragonborn

Unmanaged: Dawnguard

Unofficial Skyrim patch

Unofficial Dawnguard patch

Unofficial Hearthfires patch

Unofficial Dragonborn patch

Better Dialogue controls

3rd Person Dual Wield Animation Fix

Bashed patch, 0

Thats it, not many of them. Also if it's of any importance i can change SkyUI settings ingame under mod configuration option, so its not liek its not there. It sounds like those files are being overwritten by another mod, but this happened even when i had skyUI mod and skyui.esp plugin were both on the bottom of the lists in MO.

I don't understand why such a necessary mod is becoming so difficult to install. Any ideas would be welcome.
