[minor issue] Posts have censored words though I have zero blocked tags in Site Preferences

In the Site Preferences, I selected zero forms of censorship : not one single tag selected and even Adult sillyness on.

Yet, in posts / discussions for mods, the horrible terrifying word "s#*!" is censored.

Not to mention that is a non offensive word if there is one. Only some societies on Earth, notably some people in the USA, consider the word s#*! something to censor.

Anyhow, ignoring my cultural shock with s#*! (merde), why is anything censored on my logged-in account when my Site Preferences refuse any of that.

( sorry if the written tone sounds harsh ; please take it with a tone of humour and it seems like a site minor bug )

The wonders and vagaries of censorship.

One can wax scatological, even to discussing the bovine version, freely and without any fear of censorship. One can use a lumpy brown emoji which has a smiling face and looks like something a dog left on your lawn. One can discuss the effluent of the bowels in any of several ways, both humorous and derogatory. One can even query where Ursus arctos horribilis goes to relieve that all too common pressure felt by all animals. Hell, one can use foreign words to describe that aromatic mass which drops from the anus, without concern or fret over censors; as in the learned writings of St. Augustine of Hippo; 'Inter faeces et urinam nascimur".

But, one dare not share the idiomatic translation of the St. Augustine quote from above: "We are born between s*** and piss". That runs afoul of the censors. Type the words s***, and horror upon horror, someone might be offended. That horribly offensive word must be obscured, hidden, removed from public display, censored. I guess we could soften the blow and dilute the impact of St. Augustine's insight on the commonality of all humanity by saying "We enter the world between feces and urine". But, while the censors will not find that change offensive, history and philosophy will find that dilution extremely offensive.

To borrow a phrase from my old Platoon Sgt, "What a crock-o-crap"!

Crap, from and in honor of Thomas Crapper, who is credited with the first mass production of flushing toilets. And let us not forget going to the John, in honor of John Harrington, who is credited with the invention of the flushing toilet. If anyone is offended, it ought to be these two gentlemen.

There are no bad words. - George Carlin.

Edit. I was surprised, but 'piss' and 'crap' were accepted. Had to correct some wording. Like the first line says, "The wonders and vagaries of censorship".

The profanity filter is not a user preference, it's a site feature.

From the Forum and Commenting Guidelines: https://help.nexusmods.com/article/22-forum-and-commenting-guidelines

No profanity. It is perfectly possible to express yourself using civil language. Do not attempt to circumvent the profanity filter.
