gigantibyte
Though I have a PC game controller I could use with Dark Souls I'm a K&M player. Wikipedia quotes Gamespy in saying "the port was referred to as "shabby", citing the game's limit of 30 frames per second, poor mouse and keyboard controls, and nonadjustable resolution, but the expanded content was praised." Do the available mods take care of these concerns? Also, which mods would you recommend for a PC player that won't change the intended gameplay mechanics related to levelling and skills? windebieste
Absolutely. Why should you be forced to use a controller if K&M is your preferred input choice? You will need 2 mods. DSFix, which should be considered mandaory; and DSMouseFix. Both are available on the Dark Souls Nexus. DSMouseFix will address ANY issues you will encounter with the mouse. As a matter of fact for your consideration, I'm a preferred K&M user. I have clocked up over 150 hours using these mods in tandem. Together, they are an absolute necessity if you want to use K&M and experience the game at it's fullest without crippling results. A LOT of people will insist you that YOU MUST USE A CONTROLLER. Well, "*censored*!", I say. They should stop spreading these untruths. These guys are just jackasses and are ignorant or honestly don't care about your plight. What works for them isn't necessarily right for everyone. Dark Souls can easily be made to work with K&M. DSFix and DSMFix. Just do it. EASILY!!! -Windebieste. Kaeldren
Yep, been playing quite a few hours on KB+M no problem.Added HQ textures too so the game looks great and with DSFix I'm running the game at 60fps (the DSFix on the Nexus wasn't working for me so I looked for it online. The most recent version as of now is 2.2)
Sabatasso
I'm a typical PC gamer and I've played quite a bit with K&M in this game. I've had a XB360 controller for a long while though so I decided to connect it to see the difference and it is quite noticable in this game. For PvE purposes the K&M (with mods) function quite nicely, but the ease for the purpose of PvP where you can have quite advanced tactics including gear switching it's simply and advantage to use a controller. So while K&M works, the controller is simply better... not by much but it's there.
