set timescale to #, yes, this topic again.

I've read different accounts of what default actually is set to, the overwhelming majority say its set to 20 for default so I'm working off that. I've played many different characters at many different time scale settings but I'm kind of fed up trying to find something that 'feels' right.

set timescale to 20 = time passes absurdly quickly where you cant run a simple errand from a major town to an outlying village without it wasting an entire day.

set timescale to 'anything under 11' = time passes absurdly slowly where you can travel from Solitude to Riften in an hour or less.

So, going from what I've experienced I've played many avatars at each step between #12 and #19, some such as 15 more numerously than others such as 17 or over and 14 or under.

Anyone else got ideas about what 'feels' right avoiding the massive extremes of 'complete the main quest in a day' too low a setting or the 'enter a cave and a month passes' too high a setting?

I have heard that less than 5 messes with collision of some objects and may screw up time-dependent quests, but I never noticed. I used to use 4.

20 means that 1 hour in-game is 3 minutes real-time, which is ludicrous. I think they only do it to create the illusion of size.

With 4, 1 hour in-game is 15 minutes real-time, so 6 hours is 90 minutes real-time. I would explore and make camp and eat every 6 to 8 hours and camp for the night about 22:00 and get up at 06:00. I did a lot of wilderness wandering.

More recently I've been using 8 as I can get a decent balance by configuring Realistic Needs and Diseases and Frostfall to match, which I wasn't using in the early days. So my character gets hungry, thirsty and tired without it being intrusive and disruptive to the game. Being interrupted every 9 to 15 minutes of play would be a plain. Every 45 minutes, not so much.

But don't look for logic in Skyrim. The mass of an ingot changes depending on what weapon you make, Fast Travel on a wagons is slower than jogging on foot and the largest city in the realm has about 25 people living in it.

In regards to timescale, I would personally recommend the Dynamic TimeScale mod. One of my all-time favorite mods, and essential.
