Neem some help installing a download

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Well, first of all, I'm suite good with computers, and I never had any trouble with downloading and installing. But with this one, I really don't know what to do.

I downloaded a large zip file (200 Mb) and unpacked it. All it contaied were files named

skidrow.info

and files ending on

.r00, .r01, .r02 , ...

So, I read the install instructions:

1. Unpack release

2. Mount image or burn it

what in the world? Mount an image or burn it???

Can someone help me?

Not much info to go on here. Did you download it from Tesnexus? What was the name of the file? What is your unzipper?

Mods are neither mounted (usually a volume, such as a hard drive) or burned (sending a file to a CD - such as a music file)

Are you sure its not an attempted RickRoll?

If it is a bogus file ( this is April Fools Day) we need to know so we can take it down (tomorrow)

That is a spanned RAR file, you just need to unpack the first .rar and it will became a .iso, .nrg, .mds or any other CD/DVD image... that image you can 'burn' what means create a CD/DVD with a CD/DVD writer... or just mount it on applications like Alcohol 120 or Daemon tools....

And all this may be a valid procedure or a copyright infringement, your call.

I did not download it today, I downloaded it a while ago. It also wasn't a file on Fallout 3 Nexus, it has nothing to do with Fallout 3 (not a mod), it's just some Freeware I've downloaded.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear:

I downloaded 1 rar file. I unpacked it using 7-Zip. And then I got all those strange files...

It isn't .iso, .nrg, ...

They all have different extensions (.r00, .r01, .r02, ...)

Mod Note:

I'm explaining how to use a virtual CD/DVD-ROM drive. If this isn't a good idea, delete this post please :D

Download Daemon tools, install it like it says to. Chances are your original RAR file was actually the .iso file. Just see if that fixes it.

(I use Daemon tools and a copy of PowerISO to make backups of all of my games. I have a tendancy to lose discs :wallbash: )

use this application to recompile the files into a single archive:

http://hjsplit.en.softonic.com/

It is simple, just put the parts in a folder on your desktop, select the first one let her buck.

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, this one doesn't work either. The file you send creates files with extension .001, .002, ... and it doens't support the files that I have : .r00, .r01, .r02, ...

But thank you for the handy program. I think we're very close to finding a solution.
