SKSE64 Why does Vortex load it and not Nexus?

If Vortec is part of Nexus, why does Vortex load and use the SKSE64 with no problems and Nexus doesn? With Nexus you have to copy and paste the SKSE64 into the game. With Vortex all you have to do is load the SKSE64 just like another mod and Vortex does it all of you and it works.

I know just enough about computers to really FUBAR them up just by turning them on, so copying and pasting things into programs is NOT good, it is a disaster waiting to happen.

You speak of the Nexus like it's a program. Exactly what program are you referring to?

That's just nonsense. In fact, every single mod on the Nexus does just that.

Oops... See I told you that I knew nothing about computers. My 71 year old brain tends to get things mixed up. . What i meant was when you do a search for SKSE64 on Nexus it shows it but nothing comes up and you have to go to some other website where you have to download the program and then copy and paste it into your game. There are launchers and all sorts of things on Nexus that you can download but I have no idea which ones work and which ones do not.

Ah. Respect for delving into all this at your age.

 

Basically, the authors of the SKSE program prefer to host their program on a different website. Also, unless you really need it (as a requirement for some other mod), no need to bother with all the SKSE-related stuff you can find on the Nexus. Yet.

The SKSE64 page on Nexus is just there to provide Mod Managers with some information about the program (the "metadata").
