JimboUK
Is it possible to make mods that have no file invisible or make the attachment of a file mandatory? I know they can be removed after two days but that's two days they're sitting there wasting peoples time. It's not bad when the site is running OK but it's a pain when it's having a slow day having to wait for a page to load only to find it's something someone may or may not make next Christmas. jaysus
i must agree... i have no problem to give an uploader some hours to get the file up even more so if the file is big (1x dsl = 8h for 500mb for example) but atm it really seems as if we get spammed with those bloody mod announcements which will never get finished anyway and neither do i se a big problem if an uploader needs to recreate that filepage which takes maybe 5 minutes if he didnt upload anything after lets say 12h... a feature to hide those files would be an option of course aswell... or make it mandatory to upload a file before the filepage gets published... thatd prolly be the best solution... the uploader could get a loose week to finish the upload aswell as the filepage and the users wouldnt ever be bothered with empty mods :) (padding my own shoulder for that great idea :P)
Varus Torvyn
I agree with the OP. It's disappointing when a mod you're interested in has no file at all. A mandatory file upload would be a very nice change.
buddah
I have brought this question up to Dark0ne, just yesterday. Here is his reply: I think the policy should be that the file database is for mods that actually have files. I did spend some time yesterday cleaning up some of the old ones and a few of the newer ones that had nothing uploaded or mirrors. When I find them I do delete them. The creator of the page has the option to set it hidden if he runs into problems or is not able to get a file ready to upload. If it is hidden it is not viewed, and has little impact on the site. File pages with no files uploaded are a waste of site assets, constant page views with nothing to download. This is costly to the site (expensive), Please use the forums for your WIP and project discussion, the file sites of tesnexus and fallout3nexus are for files. Arthmoor
Does this also apply to creating entries for mods that have no files here but have mirror links to elsewhere for whatever reason?
buddah
Pointer pages are allowed have been since before the upload limit was increased to 300 megs, some files are still to large to be hosted here. While some authors prefer to only upload to one site and update that file only once. Most of this is in an effort to make the Nexus a one stop shop for your mods, the site does exist for the users and mod makers.
