SKSE64 Cannot Find SkyrimSE.exe

I installed SKSE64 through the drag and drop menu in Vortex. I have read about 100 different help threads and have tried multiple things, but no matter what I do I cannot get the game to start with SKSE64.

 

I am trying to launch the game through Vortex, I have checked to make sure the SKSE64 files are in the correct folder (with the SkyrimSE.exe file)

 

No matter what I do I receive the error that the SkyrimSE.exe file cannot be found.

 

Please help!

1) Stop Vortex

2) Launch skse64_loader from the game directory.

 

When that works, you can go back to launching it from Vortex. But Vortex never needs to be running while you run Skyrim. This is different than MO2.

Steam or Microsoft Game Pass/Xbox App?

 

SKSE only works with the Steam version.

Ah, it's on Xbox app on my windows machine. That must be why it won't work. No work around available?

yes, buy the steam version of the game and save yourself a world of pain.

No. The SKSE team simply aren't interested in trying to maintain two versions.
