VikingII
Here: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Charisma it says: "Charisma increases the disposition of all NPCs, which makes speech checks easier." But in the table only figures Barter and Speech. How charisma affects the speech shecks? Because, if it only grows up barter and speech, I can do that on level up. Rockatanskiy
IMO, charisma is the most worthless stat in Fallout 3. All the other one's have a secondary effect besides better starting stats in certain skills: Strength increases carry weightPerception increases compass scope (and accuracy?)Endurance increases HPIntelligence increases skill pointsAgility increases action pointsLuck increases critical hit % Except for certain perks and rare items (ie: ledouche mask) these are all variables that can't be normally changed. Charisma doesn't do anything special, and you can more than make up for the lack of speech skill (and barter I guess...) by putting more skill points in those areas. You can increase speech all you want, but you can't increase carry weight or AP every level up. For this reason, I always set charisma to 1. VikingII
The wikia complete text says this: "Charisma increases the disposition of all NPCs, which makes speech checks easier. Disposition is also affected somewhat by karma (most NPCs like good characters more), quests (doing a quest in a way an NPC likes can dramatically boost disposition), and dialog options (being a jerk in conversations can lower disposition a little). Charisma also affects the Barter and Speech skills. Characters who use speech will want at least a decent charisma, but characters who do not use the speech skill have little use for this SPECIAL score." It put "also" to describe that affects Barter and Speech. May be it means that charisma has more dramatical influence on NPC than if you only grows Barter and Speech alone? And the resume table (top-right corner) says: "modifies: NPC disposition towards player, Barter, Speech" It seems that charisma has another influence on NPC's than barter and soeech? NaboeN
If you have a high charisma (and therefor higher speech) you won't need to fetch the radio dish for 3dog
nosisab
To anyone that rather resolve the issues on bloodbaths, or will make his way in the shadows, and do not mind being shamefully 'robbed' in the bargains, charisma is indeed the most worthless attribute (special). I must confess I never played with so low charisma and so don't know what is the general effect, yet I think people should run like the plague from anyone as such. For sure (or not so sure), this must prevent getting some quests.

doomboy536
Isn't that determined by karma, rather than charisma?

MisterCrowley
Actually, I discovered today while playing that you need a six level charisma in order to get the Animal Friend perk. :)
xaechireon
That's just a perk requirement isn't it? Just as 'Child at Heart' requires 4 Charisma (And maybe some other crap).
