JimboUK
Just a heads up, it's out and available in the Windows Store, obviously not via Windows Update where people would actually look for it.

JimboUK
I'm waiting for ms to bring out a real OS without the touch oriented gui that i hate so much. You can boot straight to the desktop now according to reports, it's installing on my laptop at the moment so I'll let you know what it's like. Edit: What a load of crap, the start button is back but when you press it the tiles come up. :wallbash: I give up, I'm glad I stuck to 7 on my desktop. hoofhearted4
hahaha im sorry its just too funny. Microsoft refuses to admit their OS sucks hard. they put the Start button back, because they know it should be back, but is like ok but your still going to have to deal with tiles on a desktop. they should just have made a separate OS for tablet and PC. though i dont have much hope for W9. billyro
Yeah, Windows 8 is rubbish. Nothing they can do will fix it, short of completely scrapping it and starting where Windows 7 left off. I wonder if Windows 9 will be any better...
Werne
Not interested in 8.1, Windows 8 as an OS has no useful features what so ever. Win8 disk, on the other hand, makes a darn good frisbee.

The start button is all they've put back, the start menu is still missing. All they've done is move the start from pop out sidebar to where the proper start button used to be. People didn't want just the button, they wanted the menu back too, how could Microsoft not know that's what people wanted? The level of stupidity at that company beggars belief. The tiles are horrible, the laptop I have it on has a touchscreen and they're still horrible.
hoofhearted4
oh im sure they know people want it. but giving in would be officially admitting the tile design, "Metro", didnt work. Mircrosoft couldnt do that to itself. that said, maybe we will get lucky. we saw how much they went back on the Xbox One and changed damn near everything. maybe Windows 9 will be better, maybe they will go back on themselves just as hard as they did with the Xbox One. however im gunna start learning Linux now, just in case they dont. greaper1666
i like the start menu simply because there are some programs such as cpu-z that i lose alot and with the interface are easy to find. although my os isn't win 8 it is windows server 2012 r2 simply because i got it for free from college.
