Tulsa299
I'm really excited for eso. iv'e never really playing any mmos' it'd be a great experience but I do love to mod skyrim, how do you guys think modding will be handled?
billyro
There won't be mod support for ESO, but I'm not sure about texture replacers and the like. In effect, the modding scene won't change after ESO's release, aside from a dwindle in Skyrim mods as people go to play it. Tulsa299
That's a shame, I had an idea of mods packs with separate servers... Like installing a mod pack with a specific set of mods and only the people with said mod packs could join the server and play with people who have the same
billyro
I think that would just be too difficult to accomplish. It sounds like a good idea, but yeah I don't think it sounds doable.
MostlyMuggie
They can do it how Valve and other companies handle it. All the items/levels are stored in a secure server, and people are free to host their own servers with whatever mods they want. Ever play Counter Strike, Half Life 2, TF2, or something in a modded server? The server will be the only place affected by the mods. However, I HIGHLY doubt they would implement this type of system...
billyro
Yes, it is possible, but just not likely.
Rastafariel
I love the single player games. At this point, I am tired of Skyrim though. I will be trying ESO to see how they have done it. The possibility of exploring all of Tamriel is epic, plus it seems like they have a good bit of lore. I'm just hoping its more like TES and less like an MMO. So far, my 2 biggest gripes are no 1 handed wielding skill tree and forced grouping of races into alliances. I guess we will all find out how they did right after 4/4/14. Ironman5000
It's probably not going to be as great for regular mod users as we use many to mods to improve the game such as textures, performance, animation, gameplay, difficulty etc. We use mods to add more variety, fix bugs, and generally alter the game suit our own desires, so adapting to an MMO version will be a bit more difficult without the same want niggling at the back of our minds, I can't imagine ever playing any bethesda game relying solely on vanilla content anymore (the horror!). When I eventually decide to give it a try I will have to totally disassociate myself from the concept of modding to get into it fully, on the plus side though we shouldn't have to worry so much about ctd bugs...but may be replaced by server errors, let's just hope bethesda make more of an effort to maintain stability this time. brokenergy
Considering that this is going to be online for tons of people, the chances of modding ever becoming available for ESO is zero. You have to make sure that all mods are not 1) game breaking and 2) nerfing the player that removes balance in the game, and that means that the people would have to go and model and create, texture, add animations, sound, writing bits of text, code before sending it to QA to be polished up. Seeing how many people make so many different mods ranging from more historically inspired armour and weapons to skimpy outfits with big boobs, the chances that the people who are making ESO to personally test the mods one by one is zero because it costs too much to perform for something that only a few people use. And we haven't even gotten started on certification of mods for Xbox One and PS4, which can take 2-3 months and can be rejected at anytime, forcing you to start again. So no modding, which means that Beth and Zenmax need to actually make content that is interesting for once and not rely on an empty sandbox modder's paradise. Yoshh
I'm really excited for eso. iv'e never really playing any mmos' it'd be a great experience but I do love to mod skyrim, how do you guys think modding will be handled? If there is to be any modding, it'll most likely be UI wise.
