WastedDeadSoul
I want to upload a mod I ported from LE to SE. (not my mod) I know it's proper to get permission from the original creator, but as far as I can tell they haven't been active in over a year. So my question is, how should I handle this? Do I attempt to contact and just wait? Do I upload with a disclaimer?
showler
What do the permissions say on the original mod page?
anjenthedog
Push come shove, unless their licensing said you can use its code, or you haven't otherwise secured the author's permission, the only thing you can really do (And here I'm not going into any morality issues) is tweak it for yourself and don't distribute it to others. smr1957
What do the permissions say on the original mod page? The original creator didn't fill out any permissions Unless it is explicitly stated by a mod author, lack of information as to permission, lack of response by a mod author, or even the mod author no longer being active, does not confer the right to upload a mod. An individual cannot upload a mod which does not belong to them, without the permission explicitly being given - either in response to an inquiry or by a statement regarding permission made by the author. So, in your situation, you would have to await a response from the mod author allowing it - without that, regardless of any other circumstances, you cannot upload the mod.
