Beeko555
I had been successfully modding Skyrim carefully over the past couple weeks and had no issues in game or with VortexI updated the Vortex launcher yesterday and nothing works since, it seems to be a permission problem though I'm not sure how to correct this. Launching the game is now unsuccessful, installing non-nexus mods doesn't work. Even deleting the save game files brings up permission errors.Reluctantly I uninstalled all mods, purged, did a clean reinstall of both Skyrim and Vortex (with the hope some sort of permission prompt would come up) but still in the same situation.. again had none of these issues on the prior version. Any suggestions?
Pickysaurus
I'm afraid your post is far too vague for anyone to help you, please describe the problem(s) in detail.
Beeko555
Oh sorry, please let me know what to submit that would be more useful! Other than the game getting a CTD on the menu on launch (after the update) I am getting these errors.(not sure how to attach a screenshot)Save games -'Failed to delete savegame(s), this is probably a permissions problem' ''Error' Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'refreshImportSaves')'Mod Instillation - 'Access to the path 'H:\Gaming\Vortex\Mod Staging\Unofficial Skyrim Creation Club Content Patch-18975-6-7-1655696959.installing\FOmod\Module.Config.xml' is denied.Name: System.UnauthorizedAccessException'With the above the normal USSEP mod installed just fine..Thanks,

Pickysaurus
Save games - 'Failed to delete savegame(s), this is probably a permissions problem' ''Error' Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'refreshImportSaves')' This is a known bug that will be fixed in 1.6.8. 'Access to the path 'H:\Gaming\Vortex\Mod Staging\Unofficial Skyrim Creation Club Content Patch-18975-6-7-1655696959.installing\FOmod\Module.Config.xml' is denied.Name: System.UnauthorizedAccessException' This one seems like a permission issue on your machine. Have you tried restarting your PC or deleting the folder at "H:\Gaming\Vortex\Mod Staging\Unofficial Skyrim Creation Club Content Patch-18975-6-7-1655696959.installing"? Beeko555
Thanks for responding, that's good to know! Yes I've reset a number of times, uninstalled Vortex and wiped all of the files and reinstalled. Deleted the mod source and re-downloaded to have the the same issue occur, it's very strange. Upon updating to the latest Vortex version initially, I was prompted with a Microsoft installer in Vortex, It's been a few days an cant remember what It was now, a runtime library perhaps. Maybe that's where the permission issue comes from but since I can't remember what the installer was I can think what to correct.EDIT. This info may be of use when Vortex has an instillation fail at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.CreateFile(String fullPath, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options) at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.Open(String fullPath, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize) at System.IO.Strategies.OSFileStreamStrategy..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize) at System.IO.Strategies.FileStreamHelpers.ChooseStrategyCore(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize) at System.IO.Strategies.FileStreamHelpers.ChooseStrategy(FileStream fileStream, String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize) at System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(String path) at Utils.FileSystem.ReadAllBytes(String filePath) at FomodInstaller.Interface.Mod.<>c__DisplayClass27_0.<GetScriptFile>b__0() at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.InnerInvoke() at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.<>c.<.cctor>b__272_0(Object obj) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunFromThreadPoolDispatchLoop(Thread threadPoolThread, ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)--- End of stack trace from previous location --- at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunFromThreadPoolDispatchLoop(Thread threadPoolThread, ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state) at System.Threading.Tasks.Task.ExecuteWithThreadLocal(Task& currentTaskSlot, Thread threadPoolThread)--- End of stack trace from previous location --- at FomodInstaller.Interface.Mod.GetScriptFile(Boolean validate) at FomodInstaller.Interface.Mod.Initialize(Boolean validate) at FomodInstaller.ModInstaller.Installer.Install(List`1 modArchiveFileList, List`1 stopPatterns, String pluginPath, String scriptPath, Object preset, Boolean validate, ProgressDelegate progressDelegate, CoreDelegates coreDelegate) at CallSite.Target(Closure , CallSite , Object ) at System.Dynamic.UpdateDelegates.UpdateAndExecute1[T0,TRet](CallSite site, T0 arg0) at ModInstallerIPC.Server.DispatchInstall(String id, JObject data) at ModInstallerIPC.Server.Dispatch(String id, JObject data) at ModInstallerIPC.Server.<>c__DisplayClass24_0.<<OnReceived>b__1>d.MoveNext()
Mant101
I'm having the same issue with the System.UnauthorizedAccessExceptionAny Skyrim SE mod that has a FOMOD installer causes the error. Any mod without it does not. This applies to newly downloaded mods or previously downloaded mods I try to resinstall.Deleting the mod and re-downloading does not help.Deleting the mod folder directly and trying to re-download and re-install does not helpManually downloading the mod and installing it does not help.I haven't changed anything permissions wise on the folders and the error only started after updating to 1.6.7I tried turning off the sandbox in Workarounds, also no help Example failure log Fri, 19 Aug 2022 23:52:05 GMT - Beeko555
Maybe have a solution here. I re-downloaded this Microsoft .NET thing at the top of this post https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/11865088-microsoft-net-check-failed-vortex-167/. Ran the installation and no change to the above, still FOmod issues. I then clicked 'windowsdesktop-runtime-6.0.8-win-x64' in my downloads again and chose the repair option, and things seem to be working now.. Ill update again later. Mant101
Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work for me. I tried the repair, along with reinstalling both it and Vortex but still no luck.I even tried the permissions settings in the thread about the .Net error but nothing. Mant101
I tried transferring the mod folder to a (much slower) HDD and although I couldn't deploy since Skyrim wasn't on that disk I could do everything up until then including run FOMOD installers. The disk that worked was NTFS but the one that doesn't is exFAT.I'm going to try taking everything off it and reformatting it as NTFS and restoring it and see if I can get things working that way.
