Rikitikitivi
Trying to figure out why mods are not working and something that comes up when i search on it is that you have to launch the game (Fallout4) through Vortex... But I can't for the life of me figure out where the crap any launch button would be located. I'm fading into dispair, I always managed my mods manually before. This far vortex has been nothing but a soggy pancake. :'(
showler
You don't have to launch through Vortex. Have you watched any tutorials on using Vortex?
rmm200
MO 2 had to be running when your game ran, because it needed the virtual file system. In a way, Vortex is much simpler. It uses the Windows built-in hard link facility.Once Vortex installs and deploys your mods, it is done. Stop Vortex if you like. You can launch your games from the Vortex dashboard - but you don't have to.(just adding a little more background)
weland
On topic: how do I launch a game using a custom startup command from Vortex, like when launching Skyrim SE/AE using the Script Extender? I had that defined in the Starter dashlet, but I don't see any new place to configure the startup command within Vortex. I know it was only a convenience (I can start from a shortcut on the Windows Desktop), but it sure was nice having all things to do with a modded game in one place (Vortex)
weland
Maybe this is the right answer: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Using_Vortex_to_launch_a_GOG_game_with_Steam_controller (creating a new Tool to launch the game). Still getting used to some of the UI changes since I upgraded.
showler
Vortex still has the tools applet on the dashboard. You can set up the Script extender there (it probably is already there). Making it the default will make it launch using the launch button on the top left corner of Vortex. The new update may have pushed the tools applet to the bottom of the page, so scroll down on the dashboard.
rmm200
And most of the noise you really don't want on the Dashboard can be turned off in Settings.I will give them the ad For Vortex Pro. Least we can do for a free mod manager.
