Tony1999
so first off, i'm new, with mods, GECK and allanyway, so i like the NCR ranger combat armor, and i would like to add into the game a custom ranger combat armor, with no faction, and a new name (it will be placed in a specific location of course). And I would like to ask how do you do that ?this is not something biggy and i'm new so this is just gonna be some personal use, just so you know
Dudeman325
Step one, creating a new armor object: To make the new armor as a separate object, double click the NCR Ranger Combat Armor to open up the edit window. Change the entry under "ID" (without changing anything else for now) then click OK. You will get a pop-up telling you the object's ID has been changed, and a new object will be created. Click yes, and move on... Step two, renaming and removing faction tags: Double click the new armor you created (You can tell which is which by the new ID) to open up the edit window again. Put whatever new name you'd like in the "Name" entry just below the "ID" entry. The next entry below "Name" is a drop-down "Script." You'll need to change this from NCRFactionOutfitWarning to NONE to remove the faction disguise. Make sure you press OK when closing the window, and not the X in the upper right corner, or your changes to the object won't be saved (I've been guilty of this more times than I care to admit  ). Step three, placing the new object into the game world: I'd recommend placing it in an interior location at first, as finding the exterior cell that you are looking for can be tricky. Go to the Cell View window in the GECK, make sure that you are looking at interior world spaces, and double click the location you want. After a short load, the location will be drawn in the Render Window. Navigating the Render Window is tricky. Mousewheel moves forward and backward, holding mousewheel moves the camera up-down-left-right, and holding shift pivots the camera. Once you get the hang of moving around the Render Window, zoom in on the spot where you want to place the new armor. Left click and drag your new armor from the Object Window onto the spot where you want it to be in the game world. It probably won't be where you want it to be, so double click on it in the Render window and adjust its X,Y,Z Position and Rotation until it looks nice. I'd recommend leaving X and Y rotation alone, though, and remember that if you leave an object hanging in midair, it will stay there in-game until something touches it or is touched close enough to it. There are other ways to add it to the game-world as well, such as placing it inside a container, making a new crafting recipe (Ranger Armor + Abraxo washes off the markings?), or even adding it to leveled lists so that it can show up as loot and/or on vendors once you feel confident enough. I know that seems like a lot to take in at once, but this is a great entry-level project to get to know some of the basics with the GECK. Hope I was of some help, and don't be afraid to ask questions! Also, keep in mind that I don't pretend to be an expert, and mostly learned what I know about the GECK by just stumbling around and trying things, so if anyone out there has any tips, tricks, or simply better ways of doing things than I know of, let us know! Edit: Also, just like NCR Ranger Combat Armor, the new armor does not have an attached repair list yet, so it can only be repaired by copies of the same item. Since there's only one in the game world so far, that makes repairing slightly difficult. If you need help setting up a repair list, come back here or shoot me a PM after you've got the new armor made and placed in the game world. Dudeman325
Not the most helpful (I think most people know that they can find things on google), but bjornl is right that it takes quite a bit of time, effort, and study to really be proficient with the GECK. The tutorials at http://geck.bethsoft.com can be incredibly helpful too, if you take the time to wade through them.

JimboUK
btw, how do you put items into a box, trunk... In the object window find the sort of container you want, double click it so it's properties dialogue opens, change the ID to something new (must be one word), delete whatever is in the item list, drag what you want to put in the container into the item list, hit OK and agree when asked to create a new form. You can then dump that container into the world.
