SkyrimSE - GOG; transferring profiles

I'd like to install the new GOG version of SkyrimSE, but I don't want to mess about recreating all my profiles, will Vortex treat it as the same game if I point Vortex to the new path?

What about save games, is it enough to simply copy the old directory to the new one?

I assume that I purge the mods and make sure there is a proper staging folder, will I have to copy the downloads to a newly named directory too?

You can do this fairly simply.

Purge mods, update the game path, restart Vortex, deploy the mods.

Vortex doesn't really "care" which Skyrim you are managing, it'll use the existing data with whichever is selected.

Saves you have to copy over manually.

Just keep in mind some SKSE plugins may not yet be updated for the GOG build.

I can confirm that after purging, changing the paths to the Skyrim exe and the saves folder it seem to work, with the selected profile folder being created in the saves folder - but empty. The ini files seemed to be copied across.

My only issue is that the prompt to download skse always results in a message "script extender mismatch it looks like you downloaded the wrong file", even though I have selected the gog version.

Upon restart of Vortex I had the message that my game version had changed and it said 1.6.659 and an offer to fix loose files. which I accepted.

Looks like I'll have to install skse manually, could the problem be the filename for gog skse - skse64_2_02_02_gog.7z ?
