Kasey24
I'm looking for a little guidance or advice, please. My Dragonborn got pissed at this dude Miraak's cultist trying to kill him and followed the leads over to Solstheim. I've only completed a few misc. quests and killed 3 or 4 dragons so now I may be in over my head. I made it through Miraak's temple with Frea and Lydia and got the next quest at Skaal to go learn the shout word to mess with Miraak's mind control stones. Now when I killed the dragon at the top of the mountain, I noticed that I did not absorb his soul, plus I'm still figuring out some basic things like how to activate a new shout. So I went on Wiki and read the quest info on Miraak's temple to see what I was missing. I learned enough to find my stored dragon souls in the character menu and found I had one. I thought there should be 2, but then learned Miraak can absorb my dragon kills before I can. I read a little further to understand this Miraak, and the battle to come sounds like it is way too advanced for my current abilities. Am I over-reacting to what I've read, or do I need to get myself back to Skyrim and do some Graybeard stuff and hope I can gain enough dragon souls to fight Miraak when I get to level ___? Or is Miraak leveled down to my character now and maybe I stand a chance in combat at level 18????? That's eighteen, not eighty-one. We're barely shaving here. Have I opened a can of worms that is going to mess me up?
BlackRampage
Well, you should, at the very least, have enough dragon souls to unlock all three words of the mind control shout (forgot the name). No idea how much of a chance you'll stand against Miraak at level 18 though. I never even bother with going to Solsteim before hitting at least level 50. 18 is kinda pushing it though. Especially if you're playing on "legendary" difficulty. Personally I'd recommend heading back to Skyrim and leveling up a bit more.
nekollx
The problem is even back in Skyrim Mirak can Ks your dragon souls, (at least you get them all back + 10 when you kill him) so You're still going to be short dragon souls. That all said i've been putting off Mirak m ysefl since I'm a vampire and I'll wind up blood starved by the time i'm at the end of the fast travel even though i have like 22 Potions of blood stock piled and I'm afraid of being attacked by the entire island once the loading screen is done. Kasey24
Thanks, BR. Legendary? Ha!!! I'm just a casual player that has managed to muddle through Elder Scrolls III and IV on normal difficulty. Which usually takes me about 9 months to a year to complete each game. But that's okay, I enjoy poking around - only this time I think I poked a hornet's nest. nekollxThe problem is even back in Skyrim Mirak can Ks your dragon souls, (at least you get them all back + 10 when you kill him) so You're still going to be short dragon souls. I thought this was mentioned in the Wiki and it sounds like a BIG DEAL! This seems like a handicap of major proportions. It's got me thinking that I should go back to a save from before I left Skyrim and concentrate on small matters like the civil war and joining the Thieves Guild. Unless someone knows of a "legal" (non-console) trick or solution that might work, I'll go back a few days and skip that little boat ride until I've got a houseful of dragon bones. Thanks, guys
nekollx
he only steal the SOULS, you still get the loot, and it's not every time, it just means you wont have as many shouts unlocked
kradus
I did it with a level 11 Argonian the first time. It depends on your playstyle, what kind of character you have and what quests you chose to do first.
Miguelr23
unfortunately miraak is a weakling in the vanilla game(same as alduin and harkon)so you wont have much trouble killing him
