Miniguns- getting rid of them. Anyone tried?

Has anyone made a mod that gets rid of miniguns from the game? They just annoy the crap out of me, I don't like them. They look stupid and the sheer number of them you run across defies any logic. In an ideal world there would be a mod that leaves them on vertibirds and the one mission where you have to use one and then no more anywhere. Speaking as a total computer moron I couldn't do it myself- so has anyone else had a go? All advice appreciated.

TBH, Miniguns I just deal with. They are too much of a hassle to deal with.

I don't use them, and if I kill someone with a Minigun I never loot it anyway.

Since the ammo is exclusive to just Miniguns - I leave that too. Though changing the ammo to something used in another weapon type makes it lootable - I guess. I just don't like looting ammo I'll never use for the sole purpose of selling it (to someone who can't sell it because nobody uses it - because they don't have a Minigun......)

 

There are some NPC's who have Minigun's as part of their personna that simply cancelling out the Leveled List dispersion of them means you will cancel them having them (i.e. Ack-Ack, Glory, Fahrenheit - from off the top of my head). Not to mention anyone in functional Power Armor is a legitimate candidate to be carrying one too - as you learn in the Museum.

The vanilla miniguns and gattling lasers are absolutely terrible. On that, I wholeheartedly agree.

(It's not even a "gattling" laser... there's no crank turning those barrels!!)

Damage so nerfed that it feels like you'd do more damage if you threw the damned thing at the target.

They look completely ridiculous. The cone of fire is so big that you're lucky if even 1/4 of your shots hit anything at range. Combine that with the recoil, and you waste a LOT of ammo.

That spinup is not only NOT realistic, it's outright annoying.

They look really, really bad. Especially the gat lasers, with that focuser on the front. Gawd.

Movement speed is atrocious.

And DON'T get me STARTED on the reload animations for the mini gun!!! :mad: :mad:

 

But.

IF... !!

 

You want one of the most outrageous, truly awesome melee weapons in the game....

Throw a shredder barrel on one of those guys, sell all your mg ammo to the best vendor

And rip the living hell out of mobs!

Almost near constant stagger on the target. You literally make them helplessly stand there, while you drill a huge, nasty, gaping wound all the way from one side of them to the other. An there's nothing they can do about it!

Another thing that they're actually good for, is for filling up your crit meter in VATS.

Each attack that you ping in for VATS with a MG or GL automatically fires 10 times. (Unless the target decides to surprisingly expire)

 

When they start to get legendary effects. THAT's when they can really get dangerous. Explosive being one of the most desired. (By me). That's some Grade A Bang Bang baby!

Crippling, also very nice. Double shot.... oh hoh hoh merry christmas mother ***ker!

Ummm what's it called... the one where damage increases every time you hit them.... that's REALLY nice on a mg or gl. Never-Ending... there's some fun factor with that one.

 

Or

 

You can play around with mods like Wacky Weapons Workshop or ECO. That allow you to change up their projectile type.

Change it to Railway Spikes or Harpoons.

Just

Try it.

You will have lots of fun with that. I promise!

Or go all out OP as **ck and make one that shoots shotgun shells, with the explosive legendary. Mass devastation!

I don't generally use VATS, I find that I am more deadly without it. :)

 

Explosive legendary is fun, but, can be a pain too.... I had a submachinegun with it, and couldn't understand why I was dying before my targets would... then it hit me..... Area of Effect.... I was killing MYSELF! Ooops. :D

Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge fan of degens. Moreso in MMO's tho.

For FO4 tho, it seems like they're hella more effective on the player, than on NPCs. At least to me.

But they're definitely nice to have against enemies that stim pack.

(OOF! Just had a nasty, nasty thought.... Stim packs could be interrupted...) Constant repeating effect like Bleed, or Burning... yup that would be nasty. Specially with how many mobs like to throw molotovs!

 

Yeah, definitely enjoy the degens. Won't argue that in the least!

Myself, I just canNOT stop myself blowing drek up! Seriously! I've tried!

 

I honestly feel no sympathy for ferals. Those things are just too nasty.

Robots getting their legs blown off (yes, I use the live dismemberment mod!) a little bit. Deathclaws on the other hand. They just look utterly pathetic. Particularly when they stop, look around and it's like "What the **** am I supposed to do NOW? Literally ALL my attacks require me to have legs!!"
