LostLastLife
I would like to request a SPECIAL cap mod for SPECIAL to be capped at 10, at all times. I used a cheat mod that maxed all SPECIAL to 10, but certain things add permanent bonuses that push it past that, some up to 16. I read somewhere that having a SPECIAL stat over 10 can break certain gameplay aspects, like sneaking becomes useless because enemies immediately see you even when using a stealth boy. If not possible, at least a fix to gameplay aspects dependent on SPECIAL stats. I am only aware of the sneaking bug, but if anyone else is aware of others please add on. I can only hope this is possible and thank you for your time.
StormWolf01
Heyas LostLastLife.Ok so first and foremost, I want to say that I'm not bashing you, or your idea. I get where you're coming from. You want your gameplay to be as efficient as possible. However. You've got a few things incorrect. There are instances where you definitely want certain Specials, as high as you can get them.Speech checks, are a prime example. Charisma checks, with vendors for better deals. Charisma checks for the max number of settlers that you can recruit. Then there's higher STR for more carry weight. Higher INT for xp gains. Higher... whatever it is... for more Action Points (Sorry, getting sleepy, brain nodding off). Benefits like that. Particularly for builds that need those set as high as you can get them. I've run games with all Specials at 15+ and not one single time have I run into a sneak bug. I'm thinking you read some bad info there.Also. Don't misunderstand Sneak/Stealth with Detection.A lot of people do misunderstand that. There is what is called your Stealth Meter.Your stealth meter is an accumulation of all the perks and attributes that make you stealthy. And make you NOT stealthy.NPCs have a detection rating. Some higher than others. Ghouls for example are near-omnipotent in their detection. Where others are dumb as a box of rocks.Their detection ratings, get put against your stealth meter. There are SO many factors that can blow the hell out of your Stealth Meter. Are you moving? How fast are you moving? Do you have your light on? Do you have your radio on? Do your followers or companions have the setting to not affect your stealth meter? How much does your armor and weapon weigh? Is it night time? Are you in the dark? Have you been hit by the spotlights? There's tons more, but you get the point ;) It then comes down whether or not your (unstable, and highly variable) Stealth Meter is stronger than their detection. If not, Ugh! Busted! If yes, then have fun!.
LostLastLife
I do understand how additional SPECIAL stats are very useful, I just wish it wasn't bugged. If it's only the agility stat that bugs stealth, then I hope there's a mod to fix it. I wish it was just a detection vs stealth meter issue. My character was in the dark, at night, not moving, using an (heavy) armor with built-in stealth boy that auto stealth when crouched, then comes along some roaming Super Mutants, no mutant dog, and I hear "What's that?!" and get attacked. I also tested to be sure that it is at least the agility stat that causes the problem by manually changing the agility stat to 10, subtracting from the base stat, and when I did this I could actually sneak (with the mentioned stealth equipment) right in front of a Super Mutant under a bright light or broad daylight and not get caught or at least only cause a CAUTION instead of DANGER alert. Fantafaust
If that's the case I can assure you it's in your game, and not the base game. When I first played the game I had no mods and managed an 11 via the You're Special book and the bobblehead. At this point my game is pretty heavily modded and I have had no issues sneaking with 12+ Agility recently. So I assume we aren't using the same mod that is bugging your game. LostLastLife
I forgot to mention my armor is also shadowed and muffled. Anyway, I don't know what to say, I don't think I'm using any mods that would change how the stealth system works but maybe I'll look for some instead of blaming the game. Nevermind then. Is there a way I can close a topic/thread?
StormWolf01
I came across this earlier, looking for something else.I have downloaded this, but I cannot say for sure whether or not I actually tried it out.You might take a look at it and give it a try on a test character.https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/62140
Fantafaust
It would be nice if when an enemy did finally spot me, they didn't ALL suddenly know regardless of distance lol
H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
Well, it makes sense that the other enemies notice their friends wandering about looking for somebody. It would be weirder if they didn't.
Fantafaust
It's so instantaneous though, like they're telepathic. One guy spots me, says nothing, and suddenly they all turn around like they know lol. Maybe I should look at that.
HeyYou
It's so instantaneous though, like they're telepathic. One guy spots me, says nothing, and suddenly they all turn around like they know lol. Maybe I should look at that.Isn't there an 'alarm distance' or something, that addresses that??? Of course, I doubt that takes into account line of sight......
