Question about Obj/fbx File into Nif's

So i am trying to turn a OBJ/fbx file into a NIF file in 3dsMAX but everytime i try it just crashes,

This isn't a normal OBJ/fbx file though it's well.... pictures will explain it more clearly.

I know the quality is bad of this, but this is just a test model to see if i can indeed do this.

So i use a program called Autodesk 123D catch ( it turns anything you take a picture of into a 3d model )

So here is my Horse in 123D

Here is opening it up in Mudbox and exporting the textures for it

The OBJ file Imported into 3dsMAX ( trying to export it as a NIF just crashes 3ds everytime )

Here are my Export Settings for both types of files

If anyone has a clue as to why this is happening and some advice on how to fix it would love to hear it :3

Although i doubt many people have tried this...

When i see it right Mudbox displays 280.000 polygons. If this is your final mesh you use the polygon count is too hight. If these polygons are quads they will be triangulated at import, so you can double this value.

Whatever, 280k or 560k, both is far too much. Most vanilla meshes are in the <2k range, normally you use as few polygons as possible but you could even import stuff with 10k or more without problems.

I'm not sure about the exact values, but the highest amount of polygons you can use in NifSkope for a single mesh is like 40-50k. The more polygons you export from 3DsMax the longer it will take, and when it hits critical mass it takes forever/crashes.

You should google for tutorials to reduce poly count in 3dsMax. greetings
