Arikdefrasia
This issue was originally being handled through email but I was told to post it here because...I guess they didn't know how to help anymore. Original: Hi, I'm been having this problem with Vortex for about a year now where it gives a "failed with status 500" error whenever I ask Vortex to check if any mods have updates (seen here), regardless of what game or profile is currently loaded. Steps I've taken:Reinstalled VortexTried beta and stable releasesReinstalled on completely fresh OSElevated privileges all around and firewall rules reset and manually created just to be certainDespite these, it still gives the same error. The issues doesn't happen on any other pc in my house with Vortex, so obviously it's something directly on my pc. System: Win10 64bit, R9 5900X, 32GB DDR4, 3080TiVortex Version affected: 1.7.2 and previous versionsWhich games affected: AllHow many mods installed: irrelevant as it happens even if there are no mods installed I've attached the diagnostic report given when attempting to check for mod updates of Fallout 4. Guest deleted34304850
i'd suggest you send this as a bug/error report from within vortex itself which will go to the developers.of course, as its christmas and new year you may not get an immediate response, but that's what i'd do. Pickysaurus
A 500 HTTP error is a server error. This is most likely caused by your local security software interfering with Vortex's network requests.
Arikdefrasia
A 500 HTTP error is a server error. This is most likely caused by your local security software interfering with Vortex's network requests. I disabled Malwarebytes and Windows Security and still get the error. I added exceptions for Vortex to both and still the same. Every other pc in the house that has Vortex, also has these two installed and check for updates like normal. Pickysaurus
Ultimately, Vortex is just reporting a network error generated by your PC. Something somewhere is blocking Vortex from communicating with the server OR intercepting the request and invalidating them. It could be firewall/antivirus/VPN/router settings/ISP. Tannin42
In the log file you posted you got two network errors, the 500 from our api and a 502 from the beat saber extension, connecting to either bsaber.com or beatmods.com.considering you got errors from two separate servers it's safe to assume it's not a problem with those specific systems. However, 50x are usually server errors and 502 in particular would indicate a problem in a proxy/gateway system so it might be that a bigger service provider (like cloudflare) was experiencing issues (in your region) that affected both server rather than a problem with your local network. Generally (this is true for basically anything), if you get a 5xx network error suddenly in any application, wait for a few minutes and try again, 99.9% of the time these are temporary issues that sort themselves out. Is there a particular port I should be looking at to see if maybe it somehow got blocked on my PC? I'm truly at a loss of what I should be doing to try and fix this at this point. Arikdefrasia
I'm just gonna have to deal with it aren't I?
Pickysaurus
If it's only occurring on one PC, then something on the PC is causing it. I'd suggest starting with any security apps/settings that are non-standard.
