Fallout 4 Missing Masters

I just recently started pc gaming and as a result I am not super familiar with how everything works so I might just be missing something very obvious.

My main issue is that any mod I download on Nexus that requires DLC cause Vortex to give me the Missing Masters message referring to the DLC of Fallout 4. I am fairly sure the DLC are downloaded properly because in my playthrough the DLC triggered like normal and I can go to and from Nuka world just fine. I am not really a fan of the Fallout 4 DLC so aside from traveling to Nuka World to make sure it worked I haven't done anything DLC related. This really sucks because I chose to get the DLC specifically so that I wouldn't have to pass up on cool mods because I didn't have the DLC.

Some random things that might help. I got Fallout 4 and the DLC by buying the Skyrim Anniversary Edition + Fallout 4 G.O.T.Y Bundle on the Xbox app a little over a week ago. When I go to plugins and sort flags by Masters the only file that appears is Fallout4.esm and when I sort Group by DLC there is nothing. Two or three days ago I enabled 3 quest and adventure mods that Vortex says are missing masters and my game runs fine until I reach parts of the quest mod that, I assume, need the DLC and my game crashes.

On Xbox, for some illogical reason, the DLCs are stored in a completely different folder to the other games files.

This means that Vortex (and LOOT) can't detect them.

I would suggest finding the ESMs/BA2s for the DLCs on your HDD, zip them up and install them as a mod in Vortex. This way they are deployed into the game folder where all apps expect them to be.

There are multiple DLCs for fallout 4 with each in a separate folder than the main F4 game files. Did you have to zip up each DLC ESMs/BA2 files individually or were you able to find all the files for each DLC and use a single zip?

This has been really annoying and I am ready to script out the fix for this and share it after spending more time thinking about what I can do to fix this than I have actually playing F4. I am new to Vortex and mods so I am not too familiar with how it works. I was thinking about creating symlinks for the missing DLC master files but if players have found success zipping them and installing them as a mod in vortex then I'll just do the same.

I have downloaded and installed Fallout 4 and all the DLCs only so I can get the mods I would like to work. I have installed F4/DLC via the MS Xbox app on PC. Really sucks these are all in separate directories causing this issue. I've been searching around for info on this issue  when installed w/ the PC Xbox app for some time now. It has been a real pain because the results for Xbox console pop up when I am looking for info for Xbox app on PC.

On a related note, I too am missing masters but that's because GOG hasn't made the new update available yet so the Unofficial FO4 Patch alerts me to their missing status every time I load Vortex. At the risk of going off-topic, would this be why I can't get my mods to actually work in-game despite being enabled in Vortex?

Good day to you.

If the GOG version has not yet been updated, you should be using the prior version of UFOP which is available in the Old Files section of the Nexus page. Likewise, the prior version of F4SE is also available in case that is part of the issue that you're having.

Good luck & have fun!

I appreciate the reply. I had thought that might be the case however the only two available there are for the current 2.1.X version of the game. I suspect the version of the patch I need is among the five files listed as being archived but I don't know how, if at all, I might access them. I'm only running two other mods, one that adds the Mods menu to the main menu if the game and it's required script extender. They should be working even if UFO4P doesn't load, but the menu option isn't there either. Your thoughts?

2.1.# is the UFOP version, not the game version. UFOP 2.1.5 is for pre-next-gen version of FO4 whereas UFOP version 2.1.6c is for those with the latest FO4 update. Hopefully that helps.

Yeah, I feel like a dumdum having missed that in the first place, but that seems to have solved my issue getting UFO4P to work. Thank you.
