jgarling
Before I updated to 1.5 I saved all my Fallout 3 ESM's that were patched with 1.4. Knowing there was a problem with BS I figured it would be a good idea to back up these files. I patched to 1.5 (BS was already installed) and everything worked just fine. So I have been playing for a few days now and all of a sudden my game now crashes with I try to quicksave - I haven't done thorough testing yet (it was late and now I am at work) but I am heading to meet Tristan at the tunnel at it keeps crashing to desktop whenever I try to quicksave. I am not even near the tunnel itself - not even to the Dunwhich building. Anyway - can I simply put back in the 1.4 ESMs and run the game? I know certain sections of the new content require you to be using 1.5, but if I am not doing those sections why not use my 1.4 ESMs that are more stable? Anyone ever try this? Will it work? Thanks in advance
phoneyLogic
Does the normal save by using the menu work? ================== Do you mean the Fallout.esm? The Fallout.esm should be the only .esm that will be patched. But you will also need the 1.4 Fallout.exeBecause I never patched backwards, I don't know if you also need the 1.4 Versions of the Launcher.exe and the Fallout3.exe.cfg ... The Fallout.exe 1.4 should work with the 1.5 Fallout.esm ... but I guess it is better to use the 1.4 *.esm. (Maybe to avoid problems with the next patch or sth like that.) So I would backup all the 1.5 versions first and then using all this files of 1.
jgarling
I havent been home to test the saves.. I was tired of the crap last night so I didnt mess with it anymore - I will respond more to that later or tomorrow. I have the all the "fallout" BSAs and all the .exe files as well from 1.4..... I wasnt taking any chances. I will respond tomorrow with my results.
phoneyLogic
The *.bsa files you wont need, just 1.4 Fallout.exeLauncher.exeFallout3.exe.cfgFallout.esm Somebody else? I don't think that the patch 1.5 is the reason for that.Have you changed something else?

I don't think that the patch 1.5 is the reason for that.Have you changed something else? i'm not sure with it, but maybe you'll need 1.4 versions of FO3 ini files, stored in your profile... or, rather remove it, the game will create new ones (but you will lose your system and ingame settings...) - you can allways put them back, if something goes wrong
phoneyLogic
My Fallout_default.ini is dated on September 08.Think you don't need to backup your Fallout.ini since this ini is based on the default setting that has not been changed by any patch. In my opinion it is more recommended to let the launcher create a new Fallout.ini. But the backup wont hurt :)
