Good Technical Guides with a Tangle

Recommended Posts

No offense guys. I read, Wandik pinned page, Overlord1997 help guide too, and even a few others, and it would be easier on the mind if they did not have PM chatter added to them that takes up space. That kind of PM chit chat, causes me wonder if all of you are on same page trying to help out, and wastes reader time when we are trying to find answers to the problems.

Could you put a note in your craws to PM each other when you see a point or two the other guy/gal may have missed.

Then I would not spend so much time reading all the chatter which is not related to the help, that all of you that are more inclined to write help books.

You are making them available for all the rest of us to find solutions to our problems? Not to satiate your egos, right?

Excuse me for being Chatty on occasions too. By writing this post I am reinforcing the PM idea to my own minds memory so I remember to use PM when I have a chatty attitude about another persons book layout or a flaw in there important points as with 1.0.0.1.34 patch or something like that.

Thanks for Reading! And now back to the help lists.

Good point, maybe it would help if the PM space of the non Premium Members could be increased. Maximum is 50 PMs. :glare:

Also an additional "title search" function for the search feature would be great in general.

agreed with the idea, but it has both pros and cons... the pros are obvious, as you write. but i can see some cons too - the "policy" you offer would be great, if i will be able to remove not needed post in my topic. But, because of logic reasons, this is only moderators' right. Next thing - i', using "chatty" post to inform about updates in the main post, because editing the post doesn't make any (visual) changes in topic title or last post date :(, and i'm doing it for people not to have to read the topic every day, searching for updates.

But i will follow the path you poited, by deleting my unnecessary posts and editing the main post footer a bit :)

ps: does anyone know how to ask a mod or admin to delete all "chatty" posts? :D the reporting way is little bit stupid in this case

Try pm-ing a mod or an admin and tell them about it, bro.

Good point, I'm on it. Update, who is the Head Moderator?

There is only one who has basic control of the Forum switches and that's the one I want to PM right now.

i', using "chatty"

:)

:D

Your points are sometime necessary, I used the word chatty too loosely. Keep doing that in your help postings.

Hey! Idea! For All of you. Open one New Topic and use it jointly together and post your daily musings to help each set and build a better library. So you have less unnecessary dialog, "On your regular help pages".

No need for a PMming just keep the New Topic for open discussion on points you found that would help, each of you edit your own help Library. Call it the WandikOverlord1977Psyclops post or something.

That would leave you to edit your own help library so the only interruptions would be from newcomers. And Hey! You could post the link to that discussion topic page at the top of your Help pages as an, "Index" so they would switch to it to chat or talk about the help files, point out stuff on the New Topic post. Instead of cluttering up your Help Library areas.

Add a, "Link" at the top that says "Please go here to ask your questions, observations, and comment at this post." and post the link to the discussion area.

Or you could make that a separate new posted area for noobs, middle of the road, and power gamers to go to quest for support and answers.

7:50 PM MDT I had another thought. Post at the opening page of the discussion topic page the Index to your individual library help pages. Reminding them to return to the discussion page if they have any question. Hmm? How about that?

Regards
