Mod limit Issue seems capped at 245

Topic pretty much says it all. This is my first time to my recollection asking for help on this forum so sorry if I'm doing it wrong.

 

I have 245 active ESP and 248 ESL and my game plays like a buttery smooth flawless dream (Relative to my impressions i guess... its Still a Beth game)

 

Saw the collections thing and thought I would play fallout 4, Havent played any beth games since 76 kinda soured the well for me but i got the itch.

 

I installed some new CC content, A Storywealth collection and a number of additional mods. after much trouble shooting I got a pretty solid build super happy with it and I start actually playing. Im like forty hours into my new character. because of course I am, and I remember I forgot to install all of my old creation club content I have almost all of it. Was prepared to deal with a bunch of headaches troubleshooting it and boy it took alot to only partially figure out what was wrong. I tried to install all at once and of course it didnt work. So I started doing the 50-50 method, then one off testing and eventually I get through all of these mods and Not a single one would start. Even if they all ended up making my game janky being turned on mid game I would still expect at least one of them to actually be able to get past a start menu crash.

 

My game loads to the start menu and if I let it sit the darkened Creation club and Mods button will light up and it crashes three seconds later. It isn't just creation club content its normal mods also. Any mod I install past 245 esp or 248 esl causes my game to crash in this way. I checked and you should be able to install at least 255 esp and an insane number of ESL. I would share my mod list but I dont know if you guys are okay with seeing LL mods in load order. Regardless I'm not sure how that would cause a problem like this.

 

Was able to restore my load order and settings so my character is safe. I really dont want any other mods Im very satisfied on that front but I would like to play some of this creation club content I paid for though, Really like the blue power armor with the racing stripes and the Rottweiler. If anyone can give me advice with provided info I would appreciate it.

Edit: Thank you much but, No Dice all my mods that can be converted to ESL are already ESL.

Also the Creation club stuff is already ESL anyways isn't it?

I don't understand why my mod limit appears to be capping at 245 even though I'm only trying to install ESL.

I tried uninstalling a weapon mod and installed one of the ESL's and there was no issue other than a missing mod warning the game started right up. Then tried to install another one and again same issue. I'm being capped at 245 ESP 248 ESL for some reason. Really dont want to mess up this character so I honestly don't mind at this point that I cant get them working. but It's very frustrating looking at this list of money I threw away. I checked for ghost plugins disabled plugins and there is nothing to it.

Could it do something with the bashed patch that came with the collection. Not really sure about that particular Items function. I installed mods over it which didn't seem to have an effect or cause issues?

Would It be useful to uhh rebash my modlist with the new mods I added to the collection and the Creation club stuff active?

Hi there,

it seems, that you're using NMM!?! ... I've MO2 for managing fixes and mods. ... I use it for Skyrim LE, Skyrim SE and FO4 modded. ...

To be honest I've not used in Skyrim and don't use now in FO4 the Bashed Patch Option for a reason. ... The reason: Bashed Patch changes often sometimes features of modded content, which make it after obsolete on the end!?! ... I hope, that you can follow ... or understand me!?! ...

And to check, if all content of you modded setup is ESL-Flagged where it is possible you need need to load all plugins in FO4Edit and use the command " [FE " (without quotes) to filter the list on the end. ...

At the moment I've 882 fixes and mods installed and managed with MO2. But this was only possible with the ESP2ESL-Edit-Feature.

I see 19 .esm, 66 .esl and 408 .esp in your list. Are some of those .esp marked as light in your manager? If so, did you just now perform some action that unflagged them as light and you are now trying to load them all in as regular esp again?

If they aren't flagged or flaggable as light, as you said, the limit for non-esl plugins is 255 due to how many values one can fit in the range of two hex characters, the 00, 0F, E2, etc that we see at the start of Form IDs and load indices. It's just not possible to squeeze in more unless the plugs are esl, which will assign them to a different indexing scheme.

Unless you've already checked I bet you can find .esl versions for many of those .esp although that's gonna be some work and probably not a great idea if you are in the middle of a playthrough.

But since you have been able to play all the way through 40 hours, you should be able to continue if you disable the stuff you just installed and retrace your steps through the saves until you can load one of them without the game yelling at you about missing plugs.

So a large portion of those ESP are flagged as light. My problem is My hard mod limit right now Appears to be 245 esp and 248 esl according to vortex. If I install one additional mod I get start up crash no matter what the mod is. literally anything above that will crash the game. I can uninstall mods and then install different ones up to that limit and again its a start up crash at those numbers. Unless you guys wanna keep picking apart this problem for science I'm over it. I'm just going to play out this character and get rid of mod stuff I don't want when I'm done.

There is also a .bsa/.ba2 archive limit as well. Kinda surprising on a 64 bit architecture, but, there ya go......

^^^^^THIS^^^^^ Thank you HeyYou that was it. Loaded up a few plugins without .bsa No issues. Guess I'll wait to finish with this game before i go clean up mods I don't want. Doesn't really help my current situation but now I know appreciate it and thanks everyone who offered advice really appreciate it.
