Just signed up. I'm active on Steam in case you recognize my name. I'd like to learn how to add mods to my games properly. I really screwed up my fo4 trying to do it manually with no understanding of what I'm doing. I'm not really very well rounded on my computer knowledge. Hope you can work with me on that fellas. Here's to you.

Welcome!

Yeah it's easy to get carried away loading up all the mods you see.

Simple rule is to put follows and companions in a group,

Put textures and scenery in a group.

And put other tweaks like Amazing follower Tweaks or the like in the list at the bottom of your load order.

If you have more than one follower arrange them in one group below the ESM and games own settings.

Alpha

Beta

Delta

any ones that have a complete set of all their own functions, dialog, body shapes and armor design built into their mods below or at the top of the list so their outfits and such don't over write your other simpler follower companion mods.

Groups will mix and match better if you do it that way.

If something seems to go wrong. Too much lighting or mod parts floating. Remove one mod from the group. Try again. In some cases you can switch them around so they don't over write others.

For instance the Amazing Follower Tweaks main file needs to be below all of it's extra ones. And it needs to be at the very bottom of the mods in your list. So put it at the bottom and load all it's associated mods right above it. The same idea works for the other mods you chose too.

Just figuring out which should load first is important. Then add mods associated to the main one above it so they all load after it.

Followers and companions mods are more complex and have become fully self contained in one pack. They are pack full of dialog like never before. Might as well stop and talk with them once every ten minutes if they don't interrupt you first. Several I have played around with start chatting while you're roaming about. Sometimes triggering a quest they want help with.

Be on the look out for Mod Organizer 2 and it latest up grade. If you want to use a good Mod organizer it will train with an easy step by step guide until you feel ready to use before you dive into other ones. MO2 is best for getting acquainted.

Otherwise, like I mentioned, group the mods according to their purpose. And always check to see if one is likely to overwrite the others if it isn't put in a position in the group to properly load; which add the extra features of the other mods so they work in coordinated fashion.
