If there wasn't anyone who was upset at what we do here, and the way we try to maintain a level of civility, open mindedness, and respect to other members of the community, either something was very wrong with the world, or we weren't doing a very good job of it. The fact of the matter is that there will always be people who are assholes, make no attempt to hide the fact that they are assholes, meanwhile remain oblivious to this fact, just as there will always be those who feel like they're entitled to say whatever they want, whenever they want, without regard to the situation, the audience, or even trying to make sense in the matter.

 

That's not to say that we're flawless, or that we don't occasionally make mistakes. But when someone goes and insults a mod author, gets banned, then insults staff in the "ban appeal" for banning them because of their conduct, the only mistake made was on the part of the idiot who got banned.

 

This is not to say that you ignore all criticism (since that will keep you from ever getting any better), but rather just not letting it bother you when people have something bad to say.
