rexkelven
Okay, so how about this; What if the player, after getting the Jagged Crown and before getting the crown to Uflric/Tullius, were to receive a mysterious letter telling the player to meet them with the Jagged Crown in a discreet location. When you get there, a shady character attempts to mug the crown off of you. You will then have the option to either convince, fight, or go through a set of dialog to get him to tell you why he wants the crown. He will confess that HE sent the letter and he is part of an anonymous group of people looking to get rid of the war and the people causing it. Afterwards you will have the option to either ask to join, or fight to the death(at which point he will be marked as "unessential"). If you kill him you will continue with your war faction's quest line, but if you ask to join, he will say it's up to his leader to say if you can join or not. At this point you will be given a new quest to find their hideout. When you get there, you will meet the leader and give him the crown as compensation for allowing you to join. Then, you will be told about their group and how most of the members had some sort of tragic past that came as a result of the war. Afterwards you go through a set of quests involving the assassination/capture of key figures, stealing important evidence, gathering additional members, gathering important materials, and gaining support throughout Skyrim by convincing Jarls to help you end the war. When you finish the quest-line, you will plan a final attack on both war leaders while they are fighting in a large-scale battle with each-other. In the end you will have captured both Ulfric and General Tullius and they will try to convince you to save them, you will then be given a last chance to either betray the group and save one of the leaders, joining them in the process, or refuse them and proceed to have them both executed. When they are dead, you will be given the choice to become high king of Skyrim, or give the position to the group leader. If you become high king, you have the ability to order the reconstruction of destroyed cities where battles had taken place, the construction of a few new cities, appoint important people from the group as Jarls to new cities, and choose from a number of thanes to be appointed as Jarl of Winhelm. shadowslasher410
All this reminds me of the Blood of Kings questline in the Interesting NPCs mod (which, by the way, is totally awesome- to anyone who hasn't tried it, I definitely recommend this mod)! ukankissthis
My thoughts on CW first there is a mod extend the Darkbrotherhood which allows you to kill the Emperor so kill the emperor, destroy the Thalmor and become high King of skyrim should work if someone could use those mods and Destroy the thieves guild to kill Maven and we are set. I agree since the former Emperors were all Dragonborn then the current leader should be Dragonborn. I looked at the Civil War overhaul and I will NOT install skyui as it is lousy I use an xbox360 controller and absolutely hated the skyui crap so can't use that mod. dc125
There is another new thread about an idea like this one leading to being king/queen but it doesn't seem like too many people are interested. dc125
I didn't make the opening post, so there isn't much I can do about how detailed it was. I was just making the observation that this idea has come up multiple times but nothing has ever come from it.

dc125
From ellerc, Forming his or her own faction and entering the civil war as a third party. Anything along those lines to get to position of rulership would be great. From Tonlor, You have two sides both of which are stupid. You're the Dragonborn, you should have the divine right to rule over Skyrim as the former Dragonborn Emperors used to. I'm pretty sure the two threads are pretty similar in what they would like to see lol.
Boombro
ou're the Dragonborn, you should have the divine right to rule over Skyrim as the former Dragonborn Emperors used to.Dragonborns didn't rule, but rulers were dragonborn. Also not emperor, but a high king. And the jarls of Skyrim pick a high king/queen.Plus, that were long ago, times change. People didn't even think dragons were real before Skyrim. dc125
I don't disagree with you, those were just the quotes from the two posts. My only point of posting on this thread at all is that the idea of becoming high king or emperor has came up multiple times. Whether it involves the civil war and building up a third party faction or any other way to gain power, nothing much has ever happened.
