Thunderess
Please forgive me as I am very new to the game, and I have searched the forum for every possible way of placing items on tables or shevles, but didnt come up with any :/ Could someone please be so kind to help out a newbie please? :)
Switch
What don't you understand? Could you be more specific please? ^^; It's like placing any other objects. Just make sure you position any objects you want to place on a table directly over it, then press the "F" key to make it fall to the nearest surface (if it lands on the floor then you haven't moved it far enough over the table). This is in the wrong forum. Moving to TES Construction Set...
Thunderess
Sorry I didnt realize I was posting in the wrong place  As I said, I am very new to the game. I knew I could drop items, but didnt know I had to hit "f" to place it on a surface. I had some items that I wanted to hang on to, but didnt want them just sitting on the floor. Yet everytime I tried to place an item on a table it would fall to the floor. So that was my question. Thank you :)
Thunderess
okay, I tried hitting "f" to place items on tables and that is not working..... I am trying to figure out how to place items on tables, from in the game. Not within the construction set. I have candles and weapons, that I want to put on some tables within my home in the game. But when I try to place them item, it just falls to the floor ??? :/
draighox
That must be a bug. It falls though the table? If so, it is a bug. And quite often bug, I must say.
ThetaOrionis01
Are you sure you have the item placed above the table? Sometimes distances can be deceptive in game. Also, if you're doing this from within the inventory, make sure you've got the item placed in the right spot. Watch the cursor - even though you move the cursor around, there seems to be a certain area which, if you try to drop an item there, results in it being placed at your feet. IIRC, that also happens if you try to place an item too far away from you. Experiment with various placements, and check which areas of the screen will result in the item landing in the targeted spot, and which ones will make the item drop at your feet. Switch
Ohh - I didn't realise you meant in game. Personally I always stood on the table and went into first person perspective, looked down at my feet, then placed the items with the cursor. Then all you have to do is walk about on the table and place them where you want, and they won't go on the floor. Sure, you look like a complete pillock doing it probably, but who's gunna see? :D
Kevin Woodman
I go into firstperson, and adjust the inventory window to the side of the screen, and close the other windows, so they won't be in the way, and just click and drag the items from the inventory window to the game world where you want it, you don't have to put it back into inventory to move it again, just click on it move it over a bit and and set it back down, (sometimes it doesn't go exactly where you want it). or for that matter even have the item in inventory in the first place to move it around a short distance. you can also pick up items when in the menu mode by dragging them to the inventory instead of picking them up with the spacebar in realtime. the cursor changes when the item will drop to your feet. This is neccessary for bookshelves and tables that you can't stand on. If my wording makes any sense but this all works. If youre on Xbox i don't remember how to do this, it's been a while. Abramul
If you're on PC, use 'move' for fine adjustment, and 'rotate' to change the angle. The units for position are tiny, so experiment to find the right range. Not sure what the scale is for rotation, though.
