DrInfernal2
I'm having the following problem. After installing vortex, I wanted to use it for 7 days to die, so I clicked on manage on 7 days to die. Afterwards I got asked to set a location for the mods, from the dialog I figured, that it could be anywhere, so I set it to a seperate location. Afterwards I installed multiple mods and thought, that it would work. Now, if I start 7 days to die, the mods are not activiated (I can test it, if I move the mods manually to the games mod folder). My question is, how this works for 7 days to die and if it is possible to reset the mod folder to the games mod folder (in hope, that it would work then). showler
The folder only needs to be on the same drive as the game. If you need to move it, the option should be in settings.
theninjew
Honestly I ran into the same problem, Vortex asked me to pick a folder that wasn't the game's mod folder and I agreed. But now it deploys all mods to that random folder I picked, which in no way interacts with the game. I'm currently using it as essentially a second Staging folder, Deploying mods via vortex and then manually copying them mover to the Game's Mods folder so that game can see them. It's irritating, but functional. But like you, I wish there was a way to change the target "MODS" folder in vortex to the correct one so I can skip this step. I haven't been able to find a way, in settings it only lets me change the download and staging folders. No idea how to get that initial prompt back to set the Destination folder for deployment. My mods are going to another drive and I need to change it but cannot!
YouMadBro
Just so It's published, you can simply delete the "launchersettings.json" file within %Appdata%\NameOfTheGame\ and it will prompt you to create the mods folder again!
showler
It's the staging folder that needs to be on the same drive. That's under the "mods" tab in settings. The download folder can be on any drive. That's under the "downloads" tab in settings.

G:\Program Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die F:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Mods\Mods ( THIS IS WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT game gave message about UDF, Vortex popped up with a message requesting I direct it to a User Defined Folder, as some change in Windows apparently means the old location will (sometime in the nebulous near future) cease to work. ) (as in my case i need it to go back 1 folder to just mods not mods/mods F:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\7daystodie\mods (your image is talking about this the STAGING FOLDER this is not helpfull is any way shape or form)
buddhablade
As a Side note I did resolve my issue, AppData\Roaming\Vortex\7daystodie\snapshots Edit the file snapshot.json First line "basePath": "E:\\*********\\AppData\\Roaming\\7DaysToDie\\Mods\\Mods", is the UDF for that you selected for Mods for Vortex. "launchersettings.json" file within %Appdata%\7DaysToDie\ i modified the file location here as well and this eliminated all my errors Edited September 20 by buddhablade
